Why did Carol leave Alexandria? Because she can't kill anymore? And why is it so? Because she somehow bonded with her red-headed abductor who had relatably been beaten by her husband too and whom she had to kill? It doesn't make much sense to me.

She left because it sort of fucked he up i guess. She literally burnt people alive. She wanted to draw herself away from that, live alone we’re she could avoid doing these terrible things to people. Bear and mind she was meant to not be the group at this time, had she not returned to the prison and traveled with Tyrese in S4. She wanted to isolate herself.
Every kill has been weighing on her in Season 4, but she's suppressed these feeling out of necessity. When Morgan comes along and tells her that killing is wrong, she feels scrutinized, possibly vulnerable.
So when she's kidnapped by Paula, her new circumstances alarm her:
- She's watching a man she shot die slowly
- She's being held by another pregnant woman (kind of making her seem like the Savior's "Maggie")
- Paula, a once meek mother, claims to be doing what she has to, and that feeling sorry is stupid (kind of making her the Savior's "Carol")
Paula tells Carol she's no hero, and a short time later Savior "Maggie" forces Carol to fatally shoot her, a pregnant woman. Which is pretty scarring even having had no choice.
Then Carol, with a gun and numbers, tries to leverage control of the situation, but is forced to fight Paula anyway, ending with Paula's face being torn off. In addition to this being scarring, she also now realizes leverage gives her no control.
She then is forced to brutally burn a whole crew to protect her people, and just when she thinks it's settled, she gets to watch the honest cop she met in Atlanta blow out unarmed Primo's brains.
It's all pretty damaging stuff.
So when the Saviors come back demanding blood, her first thought is that staying means she'll have to relive it all.
What do you think?
