The Alexandria Walker Invasion is a major event that occurred during the sixth season of AMC's The Walking Dead.
History[]
Rick and Morgan discover a massive horde of walkers trapped in a quarry near Alexandria. Realizing that it's close to breaking out, and that it would run right into their community, Rick devises a large operation to lead the horde 20 miles away. At the same time the group enacts this plan, the Wolves attack Alexandria. One of them drives a truck into the guard tower and hits the wall. The sound of its horn draws the herd away from the rest and towards the community. During the fight with the Wolves, Morgan lets five of them escape alive.
On the road, Rick attempts to divert the broken off horde with an RV, but is attacked by these same five Wolves. Rick is able to overpower and kill all of them, but they damaged his RV in the process. As a result, Rick is forced to run back to Alexandria with the horde following him. Once he arrives, the broken off part of the horde now surrounds Alexandria's walls. The tower hit by the Wolves' truck grows more unstable, and finally collapses one afternoon, taking down a section of the wall that allows the horde to enter the community.
Many survivors are successful in getting to safety inside their homes. Deanna is revealed to be bitten, and when Rick's group of survivors makes a plan to escape, she stays behind to buy them time. When night falls, things go wrong, resulting in Carl's right eye being shot out by Ron. Rick and Michonne rush him to the infirmary, where Denise begins to operate. Overcome with despair, Rick exits the infirmary and begins taking out his rage on the horde. Michonne, Aaron, Heath, and Spencer help him, and eventually, the entire community is inspired to join Rick in fighting back against the horde.
With Maggie trapped on an unstable guard tower, Glenn rushes into the horde to buy Enid time to save her. He is almost killed, but saved by Sasha and Abraham, who finally return with Daryl. Daryl empties the fuel in the truck into the Alexandria lake, and uses his RPG to set it ablaze. This attracts the attention of the horde, and allows the survivors to take their final stand. They fight against the walkers all through the night and into the morning. In the end, the survivors regroup by the infirmary, where Denise tends to any wounded, and Rick sits beside Carl's bedside, pleading for him to wake up.
