It isn't just other people's stories on the tapes... It's my story. It's the people I knew... People I loved. And I'm not gonna leave them behind.
―Althea explaining to June why her tapes are so important to her.[src]

Althea Szewczyk-Przygocki, more commonly known as Al, is a main character and a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead, as well as the protagonist of The Althea Tapes. Before the outbreak, she became a journalist in order to interview several individuals and document their personal stories.

After the outbreak started, she decided to keep interviewing random survivors to honor her brother's death and for the future of civilization. She was part of Morgan's group of survivors which she led until being succeeded by Morgan. At one point, Al met Isabelle, an astray soldier for a mysterious organization, and developed a brief romantic relationship with her. When the group was forcefully divided and merged with the Pioneers, Al became a scout along with Dwight, where on a scouting mission she discovered Isabelle was still active in Texas, and decided to leave the group to find her.

Following Teddy's launching of the nuclear warheads, Al, having already reunited with Isabelle, made contact with Daniel over the radio, where she arranged for Isabelle to rescue him and several other members of the group from the impending destruction. Following the blast, Al had a brief confrontation with a reclamation team from the CRM before leaving Texas with Isabelle to pursue their relationship on the run.

Overview[]

She is described as "someone who is uniquely qualified to survive — to thrive, even — in this world because of who she was before the apocalypse". When we meet her, we'll find she has, in many ways, picked up right where she left off before the world collapsed. She has a number of impressive weapons in her arsenal, including a curiosity and understanding of people that often gives her a tactical advantage. It's never something for nothing with Althea. She has a greater purpose that she is constantly working toward; one which Strand takes a particular interest in."[1]

Pre-Apocalypse[]

Southern United States[]

Althea was born in the early 1980's and grew up in the southern United States, although little is known regarding that of her early life. As a young adult, she became employed as a journalist where she formed a long career interviewing several individuals and documenting their personal stories.

She was once stationed in a small village located on another side of the world which was ruled over by a vicious warlord by the alias of "Twisted Round" who subjugated the poor citizens for control over their food, water, and supplies. The outsiders refused to intervene as the villagers were too scared to even talk about the situation. Althea slowly began interviewing the citizens, only to realize that Twisted Round was not a substantial threat. The villagers overcame their fear and rebelled against him, reclaiming their homeland.

Another time while on a mission to Algeria, she encountered a village whose residents were infected with the bubonic plague.

Post-Apocalypse[]

When the outbreak happened, Al filmed a video where she hid somewhere while the National Guard and the Army were shooting at each other. Al apologizes to Jesse and says she should have stayed with him. She named the tape "The Bog #7" and went around in an armored SWAT van to collect other people's stories.

Althea traveled to many locations and encountered dozens of survivors who she interviewed in hopes of documenting their "stories", such as Slim, Ryan, Molly, Ed, Earl, C.J., Clark, Jody, and Samora Sinclair. At one point she headed to Houston, Texas and encountered Abraham Ford and Eugene Porter where she also interviewed and documented their stories.

Season 4[]

"What's Your Story?"[]

Althea drives up in a SWAT vehicle and offers Leland a case of ramen and cigarettes in exchange for his prisoners, John Dorie and Morgan Jones. When Leland refuses, she pulls a lever to reveal the vehicle is rigged with machine guns.

Afterwards, Althea drives with Morgan and John in the back of the vehicle. She tells them that they owe her for saving their lives. She stops at a trailer park and gets out a video camera, explaining to them that she's a journalist and wants to get their stories on record.

The next day, Althea interviews John on camera and learns about his mission to find his girlfriend, Laura, who he met after the fall. She turns the camera on Morgan. He brushes her off and leaves them.

Suddenly, Leland's crew surrounds Althea, John and Morgan. Leland demands the keys to Althea's truck. While Morgan and John fight off their captors, Althea kicks Leland and runs to the truck.

Leland pulls her out and looks for the keys to the truck. Althea dangles keys in front of Leland and tosses them into some bushes. Leland runs after the keys, allowing Althea to escape.

Althea sprints to the truck. Leland slams the door in her face and tells her the keys didn't work. She reveals that they were the wrong keys. Before he can attack her, John shoots Leland. Althea escapes as Leland gets devoured by Infected, then guns down the Infected with the SWAT machine gun.

After the fight is over, Althea, John and Morgan get back on the road. Althea informs them that white numbered flags have been appearing in the area over the past few weeks. Althea points out that Morgan still owes her an interview.

Althea interviews Morgan on the side of the road. Morgan reveals that he came from Atlanta and used to belong to several settlements. He explains that his people battled a large group and won. When Althea asks why he left his group, Morgan gets up to go. Althea demands an answer. "I lose people and then I lose myself," he says, then walks off.

Later, after returning to the truck, Morgan insists that he is only traveling with John and Althea until his leg heals. John explains that they are setting out to find Laura and in exchange for the help, he'll tell Althea more of his story.

Althea sees a woman crawling on the road. She pulls over and walks up to help the woman: It's Alicia Clark, alive and well, and clearly hardened by survival. Suddenly, Alicia points a sharp weapon at Althea's neck. Alicia's brother Nick, Victor Strand, and Nick's girlfriend Luciana Galvez emerge from the bushes and hold Morgan, John, and Althea at gunpoint.

As she is held hostage, Althea nervously asks Alicia: "So... what the hell's your story?"

"Another Day in the Diamond"[]

Althea, John and Morgan are held at gunpoint by Alicia, Strand, Luciana, and Nick. Alicia asks Althea if they are their enemies, and Strand names their foes as the Vultures. Morgan insists that they are not their enemies, and Alicia asks Althea about the flag in the back of her truck. Althea says that she found it and insists she doesn't know the significance of the flag, but Alicia tells her to take them to its original location.

"Good Out Here"[]

Althea, John and Morgan are held prisoner in the SWAT truck by Nick and his group. Althea reveals that she only gave them partial directions to the location with the numbered flag. She agrees to provide the rest of the directions on the condition that they tell her their stories, but warns them they are stealing her truck, Nick says it's how it's gonna be. When she threatens him, Nick attempts to threaten back, but he escapes from her bonds and attacks Nick, causing him to jostle Luciana in the driver's seat. Luciana swerves off the road and crashes. The noise attracts a herd of Infected towards the truck.

Althea and John unsuccessfully try to extract the SWAT truck from the mud. Luciana offers to locate a tow truck but demands that she, Alicia, Nick and Strand, who are all now captives, be released. Althea agrees to this as along as they tells their stories to her and cuts all their bonds, but holds Nick hostage. Morgan offers to stay with Nick while the others find the tow truck.

Luciana leads the group to a service station and points to a truck with wire cable. Strand tells Althea he's surprised by her benevolence. Strand asks Althea why she collects people's stories. She attempts to not answer, but Strand tells her not to change the subject and asks again why. Althea declares that the truth matters and again offers to disclose the location of the flag in exchange for everyone's stories.

Althea and the group returns to the SWAT truck and finds it swarming with the Infected. John spots an arrow left by Morgan to indicate the direction that he and Nick went. Althea refuses to leave his truck and tells John to go look for Morgan. John replies, "It's just a van", Al!", but Althea says that she has stuff in her van. Alicia offers to help tow the truck while Luciana and John look for Morgan and Nick. Alicia's group agrees to tell their own stories if Althea takes them to the location of the flag.

Alicia cuts down the walkers as Althea covers from the top of the hill. She gets under the van, hooking its underbelly to their newfound tow truck. Afterwards, Althea and her group catch up with John, Morgan and Nick.

Althea notices that the lock to her locker is broken. She sighs with relief once she sees that all her tapes, including a box labeled "The Bog, 17-24,"are still there.

After Nick is shot by Charlie, Althea, John and Morgan can only stand by and watch as Nick dies of his wounds.

"Buried"[]

Alicia, John, Morgan and Alicia's group ride in the SWAT van with Nick's body. In a flashback, Althea videotapes Luciana as she plunges a knife into Nick's head to keep him from turning. She films Alicia killing an Infected Ennis, and Strand covering Nick's body with his jacket. In the SWAT van, Strand informs Althea that his group is ready to tell their stories. Al turns on her video camera and asks the group how they ended up in their current situation. Luciana explains that everything traces back to one particular day.

Luciana explains to Althea that it had been a couple of weeks since the Vultures' arrival and rations were getting low. Strand tells Althea that their first misstep that day was to go on runs. Luciana tells Althea that she went inside because she thought it would be good for Nick. She also tells Althea that Charlie was beyond help. Althea tells the group they can stop the story if they'd like, but they continue.

Althea notices that Alicia kept the machine gun barrel, which now has a jagged point. Luciana tells Althea that she should never have opened the road atlas. Althea asks if that was the day that everyone left the stadium. Strand tells Althea that he never told anyone that he'd hidden the supplies only for himself.

Alicia tells Althea that she should have talked Madison into leaving. Strand tells Althea he should have kept the car a secret. Luciana tells Althea that they should have left the stadium for a new destination. They declare that Nick is dead because they wanted to believe the stadium would work out.

John stops the SWAT van. Alicia's group gets out to dig a grave for Nick. Eventually, their shovels hit something.

Rather than burying Nick, they had Althea bring them to the spot to dig up a cache of guns. They're planning to kill the Vultures. They ask Althea to drive them, with the promise of showing her how their story ends. Althea agrees.

John finds the Colt in the backpack and realizes that Naomi is Laura. Alicia tells him that Naomi died at the stadium. John chooses to remain behind as Althea takes Alicia and her friends after the Vultures. Althea promises to find out what happened to Laura and report back to John. Morgan stays behind with John as everyone leaves in the van.

"Just in Case"[]

Althea and Alicia's group speed toward the Vultures' next meeting spot. Alicia interrogates Althea about the SWAT vehicle's firepower, but Althea makes it clear that she only records events and will not participate in their fight.

Alicia, Strand and Luciana wait for the Vultures at their designated meeting spot. Althea is filming the whole thing. John and Morgan arrive. Alicia's group forces them to their knees. Morgan explains that they warned the Vultures to stay away. John asks Althea for help, but she simply spectates. Morgan explains the Vultures are not coming. He found them and told them to stay away.

Althea witness the exchange between Alicia's group and the Vultures and when Naomi arrives, alive and well, Alicia attempts to kill her, but accidentally hits John.

"The Wrong Side of Where You Are Now"[]

During the gunfight between the Vultures and Alicia's group, Althea stands back and records the scene with her camera only to be interrupted by Morgan who begs for her help to save John Dorie's life. Althea refuses as she is not a part of the story, but Morgan convinces her that the story is almost over and a good man will die if she doesn't help. Driving her SWAT van, Althea uses her machine guns to stop Alicia from killing Naomi and departs with John, Naomi, Morgan and Charlie.

After leaving, Althea demands to know what happened to cause the stadium to fall and Charlie admits that it wasn't Naomi's fault but Charlie's. With John in desperate need of medical attention, June directs Althea to take them to the only place left with medical supplies: the Dell Diamond Baseball Stadium. Though June acknowledges that the stadium fell, she insists that the supplies they need are there and Althea agrees to take the group to the stadium as Charlie explains what happened.

Arriving at the stadium, Althea stops the van and observes the wreckage. June insists that they need to go on and that the infirmary still exists as Ennis and the other Vultures took what they could from the outside but were too afraid to go inside. Althea continues to hesitate at this announcement and Morgan tells her that he thinks he knows who she is and that he thinks he's seen it. Althea responds that Morgan definitely hasn't seen who she is as Althea is "a chick with layers" and then drives the van into the stadium. To everyone's shock, in the dugout they are surrounded by a herd of hundreds of burned walkers.

"No One's Gone"[]

In flashbacks, Althea is confronted at gunpoint by a desperate Madison Clark, who wants to take Althea's vehicle and supplies. Althea is able to capture Madison using a booby-trap and offers to help Madison in exchange for Madison's story, suggesting that while she hasn't met Madison's kids, someone she recorded might have. Though Althea breaks free, Madison overpowers her, steals her camera and took one of her own tapes and flees.

Althea eventually recaptures Madison and tells her a story about how before the Apocalypse, Althea used her journalism to help take down a warlord named Twisted Round. Madison finally tells Althea a story about how her kids, as young children, nursed a severely injured bird back to health and how she wants to find a safe place for her children where they can live without fear. Althea and Madison ultimately go their separate ways without Althea ever learning Madison's name. Before they part, Althea gives Madison some food, a radio and a map and requests that when they next meet, she gets the rest of the story which Madison promises. Althea subsequently labels the tape "Amina" after the bird from Madison's story while their encounter inspires Madison to form the Dell Diamond Baseball Stadium community.

In the present, Althea agrees to watch John Dorie and use her guns to clear a path for Naomi and Morgan Jones to reach the infirmary, but warns that she only has enough ammunition for one try at it. Althea brings the SWAT vehicle as close as possible and clears a path while Charlie keeps watch. When Alicia's group shows up, Althea exchanges fire with them before retreating into the vehicle to treat a bleeding John.

After Luciana blows off the van door with a rocket launcher, Althea is taken captive by Alicia who forces her to assure Morgan and Naomi that its safe to come out. However, afterwards Althea slips John the radio who uses it to broadcast Althea and Alicia's conversation to Morgan and June. Althea and Alicia get into a fight after Alicia discovers the deception, ending when Alicia spots some of the leftover food matching what Althea gave Madison. Alicia finds Althea's "Amina" tape and realizes that Althea met her mother who she reveals is dead.

After Alicia is talked out of killing Naomi, who's real name is June, Althea drives the group to safety and asks about Madison who never revealed her encounter with Althea beyond a brief mention out of shame for her behavior at the time. At Alicia's request, Althea pulls over where they make camp and Alicia's group reveals the rest of their story, Madison's story, including how Madison sacrificed herself to save her children, Luciana and Victor Strand. Saddened by the ending, Althea labels the tape containing the story "Madison" in honor of Madison's sacrifice. Together, the group enjoys a meal made of the last of the noodles left over from what Althea gave to Madison.

"People Like Us"[]

A month later, Morgan radios Althea to inform her while he still won't answer her questions, he plans on heading back to Virginia and wants her to drive him. Later, a walker comes upon Charlie by the river, but Althea puts it down to help her. Althea volunteers to lead John and June to the cabin before she leaves in the morning.

Althea and June discover a box left on the road that reads, "Take what you need, leave what you don't. See you further up on the road." They find MRE's and supplies and Althea decides to record it. June asks her about John's interviews and Althea says she only knows about her Laura and Naomi aliases.

Back on the road, June laments to Althea that she's not the Laura John fell in love with. She explains that was a scared version of her, and she's afraid if she returns to the cabin with him he'll realize she's not who he thinks. Al doesn't buy it and reminds her she's not as different as she thinks. They decide to head back to the truck when they sense a storm coming their way.

As the storm hits, Althea and June get stuck in the truck, which gets pelted with walkers from the wind.

"Weak"[]

After the storm passes, Althea and June remain on the road. June watches John's story on Althea's tapes and radios him to thank him for the kind words he said on the tape. Althea returns and tells her to conserve the battery on the radio. Without gas, they're forced to hang out by the truck for a day.

The next morning, they hear someone on the walkie. June asks if it’s John but is met with silence. Althea starts feeling ill due to lack of food and water, so June convinces her to come with her to track down the person on the radio.

On the road, Althea and June locate a truck and find a box telling them to take what they need. They drive the truck back and June apologizes for using all the battery in her camera. Althea forgives her and tells her that she never really had anyone before the apocalypse because of her strenuous work life. They try the walkie again and unknown to them, they are overheard by the woman Morgan communicated with before. Althea, meanwhile, begins vomiting. She has a fever and tries to downplay it.

Suddenly, the SWAT truck drives past Althea and June. Althea chases after it, dangerously speeding the truck, which maneuvers around a refrigerator and causes them to pop a tire and spin out. Althea, who's getting sicker by the second, reveals to June that all her medicine is in the truck.

Later, Althea wakes up in the back seat of the pick up truck. June is fixing the truck's tire and insists they stay in communication to keep Althea with her, while Althea's condition continues to worsen. They hear the SWAT truck guns down the road and Althea begs June to run over to it, which she reluctantly agrees to.

June radios Althea to ask where the medicine, Althea stumbles to her radio, almost through changing the tire. A walker is gaining on her and eventually gets to her. She is weak but fights it off. June can't find the medicine. Althea ends up using the truck to kill the walker by knocking it off of the jack. She gets to the radio and reveals there is no medicine, she just wanted the van back. June is furious.

June returns with medicine she found on the bus, which instantly helps Althea recover. June is furious that she almost killed someone for medicine that wasn't there, but Althea brushes it off. June's still upset, and demands to know why the truck matters to her so much. Althea explains that she wanted the van and the tapes because she thinks the tapes help people like they did for June and Alicia. "It isn't just other people's stories on the tapes," Althea says. "It's my story. It's the people I knew. People I loved and I'm not gonna leave them behind."

Morgan climbs a water tower to communicate his location with a stronger signal, Althea and June miraculously hear him. Their walkie dies, but June says they have the gas to make it to his location. Unable to abandon the SWAT truck, Althea tells June to go without her. June pleads for her to stay, but Althea leaves anyway. As June drives off, Althea fires her gun and then decides to come along after all.

Althea and June drive behind Morgan and his new group. They finally reunite and Morgan tells June he still hasn't found the others. Morgan introduces them to Sarah, Wendell, and Jim and offers them water from the "take what you need" box while June takes Morgan's walkie to radio the man from before.

At the truck, Morgan talks with Althea about her health. He still plans to go to Alexandria and she is welcome to join. "Just so you know, when I stay with people, I stay," she says. "But I don't plan on staying once I get the story." She asks about the guy whose truck this is. He doesn't know much other than the fact that they kept the roads clear, have power, and have water.

"Blackjack"[]

At night, as they search for Quinn, Althea and Morgan tell June they will continue with her on the search for John, but the others are looking forward to moving on.

After Sarah kills a walker, Jim notices the "Take what you need" message marked on its forehead and June immediately radios Quinn. However, she only hears walker groans on the other side, followed by Martha telling her he's dead. Morgan recognizes the voice and radios her.

The woman immediately recognizes Morgan. She learned it from watching Althea's tapes and insists people getting help makes them weak. She wants them to stop trying to help people, which will make them strong again, and she won't have to intervene.

The next day, Morgan plants more boxes to try to help people. This time, he instructs people to radio him on VHF channel 4. June is hopeful John will see one of these. Morgan is confident they'll find him and everyone else.

On the road, Sarah and Jim start to question Morgan about what the woman meant when she said he used to be strong. He says he has some things to make up for and if they decide not to go with him he'll take the truck. Althea is on his side and can handle the truck. When Sarah draws her knife, Morgan slaps it from her hand with his shovel. They're instantly convinced and on board.

Later, Althea and the rest pick up Luciana and continue on their way. Suddenly, they are contacted by Charlie and Alicia on the radio.

Alicia tells them she found the channel from the box. Morgan tells her to wait at the mile marker and that they are gonna pick them, when suddenly, Martha radios both of them and warns Morgan of not taking her advice to stop leaving the boxes.

Morgan tells her he'll continue to find the people they're looking for until they find and help her. Sarah spots Althea's SWAT truck appear behind them. Panicked, Morgan radios Martha to ask what she's doing and she tells him, "You lose people... You lose yourself." Morgan tells the group to get down just as the woman pulls the truck beside them, opens the gun hatch and opens fire.

"MM 54"[]

Althea and the others slowly get up after the gunfire stops. Morgan notices leaking fuel and says they need to get out of the truck immediately. The SWAT van stops. Althea guesses that Martha used up all the ammo.

Althea, Morgan, June and Luciana get out of the truck. Althea goes after Martha with a knife, but falls back as Martha emerges from the back and releases a zombified Quinn onto June.

Wendell shoots Martha in the chest and Morgan puts down Quinn before June can get bitten, when suddenly, the truck explodes and attracts a herd from the woods. Martha smiles and drives off in the SWAT truck as the group flees.

Althea and the others walk along the road with the herd in pursuit. June insists on checking everyone's injuries from the shootout. Althea and Luciana are in bad shape, and Morgan spots a sign for a hospital. Jim wants to keep moving, but Morgan insists they won't ever get ahead of them. The group declares he is wrong for abandoning them, but he blames Morgan for their situation. He changes his mind, however, when he sees the herd getting closer.

At the hospital, Althea, Sarah and Wendell clear the halls and rooms and find a set of walkies in a room. Althea asks Wendell how he ended up in a wheelchair. He explains that he got hit by a car as a child after he tried to save another kid from being hit. Later, Marines rejected him because of his handicap.

Althea and Sarah look for a stairwell. Sarah tells Althea that she quit the Marines after they mistreated Wendell. They find a stairway blocked off and filled with walkers. Morgan reports via walkie that a roof caved in on another stairwell. Luciana informs the group via walkie that the barricade won't hold much longer. Morgan suggests they take the elevator to the roof. Al and Sarah look for generators to start up the elevator.

When the herd closes in, Althea sends Sarah to rejoin Wendell, saying she knows that the time when they can't be together is harder than she thinks. Everyone meets up at the elevators. Althea almost has the generators on as the walkers close in. The lights come on and everyone hops in the elevator as the walkers crowd the closing door.

On the roof, Sarah tries to reach Althea on her walkie, but doesn't receive an answer.

"I Lose People..."[]

Morgan repeatedly tries to contact Al over the walkie to no luck, leading to the assumption that she is dead or her batteries have run out.

After the group leaves the roof in search of Al, they find walkers on the top floor trapped behind a fallen celling. Outside of the generator room, they find several walkers killed by Al but not trace of her.

Luciana finds a note from Al stating that her walkie talkie ran out of batteries and she is making a break for it using the freight elevator. Al also leaves instructions for what to do with her tapes if they survive and she doesn't.

"... I Lose Myself"[]

Althea flees into a building to escape a herd. There, she finds a walkie and tries to contact the group to no avail. She spots a TV news van nearby and watches some of the tapes. Then, she hot-wires a police car and drives back to the hospital, only to encounter Martha with a zombified Jim. Martha tells Althea she watched her tapes and admires her strength. She orders Al to give Morgan a message, but she refuses. Martha attacks Al with Jim and then knocks her unconscious.

A while later, Al wakes up in the SWAT truck where John and June tell her they found her alone in the street with a tape from Martha.

The next day, the group arrives at the truck stop and stocks up on supplies from the store. Al replenishes the artillery in the SWAT van. Outside, she loads the van when some walkers approach. Al jumps down to fight them, but is too weak and passes out. Alicia shoots at the herd and then instructs everyone to get inside as the noise will attract more.

Inside, everyone doubles over in pain as more walkers scrape at the windows. June realizes that someone opened the water bottles in the store and poisoned the water. Al deduces it was Martha.

While she watches tapes from her travels, she hears Morgan on the radio. Finally able to communicate, Morgan tells them it's anti-freeze. June tells them the antidote is ethanol and the group hatches a plan to get it from one of the trucks outside.

June and Charlie create a distraction while the rest kill the walkers and push forward. Althea jumps in her SWAT truck and machine guns the walkers outside, while accidentally putting holes into the tank and causing the ethanol to drain out.

Sometime later, Al makes a tape of herself and says that whoever finds the tapes to keep them safe. Suddenly, Morgan shows up and reveals that he brought a truck of Jim's Augie's Ale, saving the day. The group drinks the beer and suddenly regain their strength.

Morgan then brings Althea and the group back to the place he left Martha. He finds her severed arm attached to the police car and sees her turned, walking on the road. He stabs her in the head and then buries her.

Morgan tells everyone he's no longer going to Alexandria. He says that Martha became the person she was because nobody helped her when she needed it and that more people need help.

The group arrives at Clayton's supply factory and Morgan says they should follow his path and help others. Alicia says it can't just be about boxes, they need to build something like Madison would want. Althea suggests they can start with the people she interviewed.

Shortly after, Al and the group mobilizes a convoy of vehicles outside the factory. They load up on ammo and head out. Morgan gets on his walkie and broadcasts that they are coming to help anyone who might be in need.

Season 5[]

Four months after using the denim factory as a headquarters to distribute the supply boxes, Althea and the group have had poor luck in finding or recruiting other survivors, with many of the people interviewed on her tapes dead or missing.

"Here to Help"[]

Althea and the group flies on a plane after hearing a message on radio from someone named Logan. However, the plane crashes in the middle of the woods on an unknown territory. In the overturned cockpit, Althea and June wake up with walkers clawing at them from the windows.

Althea radios Strand to tell him they crashed and instructs him to watch her tape labeled "Skidmark." She explains the man on it has a small plane and he'll have to use it to fly over and get them. Outside, Althea is attacked by a walker with black armor and a helmet on and impales it on a spike. She and John then grab hacksaws, which they use to cut Luciana free. They place her on a stretcher and Althea hands Alicia her weapon.

Alicia takes the lead but a truck rushes in with Annie driving. Max says it's their sister so they all pack in the van and leave. On the road, Annie says walkers are the least of their problems. "You have no idea where you landed, do you?" She asks them mysteriously and says she stays away from this area but got stuck there recently. Morgan says they're trying to help a man they met on the radio named Logan, who claims his place got surrounded. Annie stops the van and says the place is worse than it seems.

They arrive at a gate comprised of walkers chained together with their own intestines. The tree above them has walker heads hanging from the branches. Annie says they're all over the area and she refuses to drive through. Morgan says they'll walk and Annie reminds him he doesn't even know this guy, but Morgan still wants to try. Annie warns he better be worth it as Alicia cuts down the fence and they ride on through.

Later, the group arrives at a truck stop to look for Logan but find the place empty. They carry Luciana inside as Althea and John inspect the place. Morgan tries to reach Logan on the radio to no avail. Alicia reports that no one's here and that something must be up. Annie gets spooked and tells her brothers they need to leave now. Alicia tries to calm them down but Max points his rifle at her and warns them to leave soon. The kids leave as June pulls the pole out of Luciana's shoulder.

A while later, Morgan gets a radio call from Logan. He says he is the "L" in "C&L" which is the logo on all of the trucking equipment. He admits he never shared Clayton's world view and he made them fly to the furthest truck stop he knew of so they could take over without a fight. Alicia reminds him they crashed a plane to help him and Logan says he is just trying to reclaim what's his instead of hurting them. He cuts off communication and walks away.

That night, Althea tells Morgan they need to return to the plane to investigate something and he promises they will go in the morning. However, Althea decides to leave on her own to investigate.

Sometime later, Althea returns to the crash site in the rain to find the armored walker she fended off. She pulls off its mask, kills it and starts recording. She discovers the outfit has some wires on and finds some laminated documents with maps with a three-circled symbol and the initials CRM written on it. She radios Morgan to tell him there's a story here until she's tased from behind. She falls down unconscious as the mysterious person covered in the same armor stands over her.

"The End of Everything"[]

In the rain, a tied up Althea is carried by the CRM soldier. She wakes up and notices they nearby spreading powder on the corpse of the armored walker before lighting it on fire. Althea grabs her bag and runs through the woods. She ultimately falls down a hill where she gets her camera out of the bag before continuing her sprint. She quickly gets surrounded by walkers and is saved by the stranger, who then knocks her to the ground. Althea knocks the helmet off the soldier revealing a woman who demands the camera.

The next morning, Althea finds herself tied to the passenger seat in an old car. She calls out to a nearby walker, grabs the barbed wire attached to it, and uses it to get free. She slams the walker's head in with the door and leaves. Nearby, she discovers a helicopter parked in the field

Althea tries radioing Morgan and Alicia but a man radios back calling for "Ground 17." Suddenly, the woman appears and holds her at gunpoint, instructing her to get out. She tells the person on the radio that the lead was killed in action. "I can be inbound within 72 hours," she says, pointing out she has to get gas before delivering the payload. The man pauses and promises to send a reclamation team. The woman then demands Al take her to the tape. Al agrees but only if she gets her story. The woman agrees but says they need to find fuel. They pack supplies and head out to a fuel drop to get gas for the helicopter.

On the road, Althea questions her on her background, rationalizing their stories will be all that's left after they're gone. Suddenly, walkers tumble down the hill and the woman instructs Al to stay inside, but she refuses. The woman gives her a bite-proof jacket and then takes care of the walkers. A second rockslide hits their car and tips it over. Al grabs her camera as a walker emerges from the rubble and tries to bite her, but the jacket saves her.

The woman finds a tape in Althea's bag called "The Bog #7" and watches it. In it, Althea reports that the National Guard and the Army are shooting at each other, and then apologizes to Jesse and says she should have stayed. Althea explains to the woman that her brother died and she risked her life for the tape because it's all she had left of him. The woman tells Al she should be afraid of the people in black uniforms. "We are a force who are not living for ourselves or for now. You have your stories, already making every day the past. We have the future," she says ominously.

Althea and the woman continue on their journey to retrieve gas. They ultimately post up for the night and talk about their common lives before the fall. The woman reveals she killed her partner because she was doing her job. "I do think stories matter, some things just matter more to me," she says.

The next day, the two scale a mountain with rock-climbing equipment. They encounter an undead climber and the woman nearly falls to her death. She repositions as Althea kills the walker and maneuvers around it. The two eventually reach the top and lay down. The woman reveals her partner, Beckett, used to be her friend and together they would fetch supplies to purify water around the power plant, but her partner got spooked by the undead and she had to kill him. She takes out a key and said it belonged to a cabin her partner liked, but she doesn't need it anymore. She tosses it off the cliff and reveals she might have to kill Al for operational security.

Althea tackles the woman and takes her rifle, saying she needs it for her own security. She then threatens to leave with the climbing equipment and supplies without her so the woman finally agrees to her interview. That night, the woman reveals she's from a community but won't reveal its name or location that's focused on rebuilding society for the future. She says if she doesn't show her where the tape is then there might not be a future to tell their stories in. The woman pulls out a beer and says she wishes she met Althea before this. They ultimately bond over a beer. "Everything's so ugly nowadays. This is nice," Althea says tearing up.

In the morning, the woman has her gun back and wakes up Althea to get moving. They head off for the tape which Althea put on one of the dead. The woman uses gunpowder and a match to get rid of the tape when Althea hands it to her. "The tape was only part of the story," the woman tells her. She then makes Althea turn around and puts a gun to the back of her head.

Althea hands her the tape with her brother on it, saying she hopes that he can live on. "I want you to live. Don't chase this story. Do not try to find me. I hope you get back to your friends and that you can all get home somehow," the woman says, deciding not to kill her. She reveals her name is Isabelle and she's from Indiana. She says Al's the prettiest thing she's seen in the apocalypse and then kisses her. Shortly after, they go their separate ways. Althea then watches Isabelle take off in the helicopter before using the radio to reach out to Morgan.

A while later, she reunites with Morgan and Alicia in the woods. She lies and says she got attacked by walkers and does not know where the helicopter went. The kids walk up and Morgan says he'll explain on the way. Before they leave, Althea reveals her last name to them, saying she thought they should know that. They smile and walk off together.

"The Little Prince"[]

Althea and the group arrive at the truck stop with several parts of their plane. She then listens as Morgan makes a plea to the kids for them to stay together and to help them re-assemble the plane so they can leave the area together. "We can because we've done the impossible before," he says. Luciana reveals they will fly across the mountains together. Dylan steps up and agrees.

A while later, Althea is working on the plane and manages to get one of the propeller blades working until it explodes. A walker approaches and Morgan kills it with his new staff. Althea then listens as Grace radios Morgan and tells him to prepare his generator for transport, explaining that the plant's second reactor is in danger of melting down and she needs the generator to help buy them time to escape though she doesn't believe that she can stop the meltdown permanently.

After Morgan leaves to help Grace, Althea works inside the plane cockpit with June. She feels guilty about letting the helicopter take off but doesn't open up to June about it. June offers an off-the-record conversation to help, but Althea doesn't budge though June appears to suspect that something happened that Al isn't talking about.

Althea and June then witness alongside the others at the sky as Strand and Charlie approach in Jim’s beer-themed hot air balloon to their rescue, until it unfortunately crashes in the radiation zone.

"Still Standing"[]

At the truck stop, Althea and the group realizes there's a hole in the plane and they have to find more gas. She claims she knows a place and goes along with June. A while later, they arrive at the mountain with the helicopter fuel as John finally makes contact with June. She warns him the reactor will soon meltdown and he needs to rush.

As they pack up the fuel on the truck, Althea finally tells June about Isabelle and claims she misses her. June explains how she was always grateful for what she had with John when she didn't know if she would see him again. She says she's certain she'll see Isabelle again. Althea smiles at this, having gained a new sense of hope.

"Is Anybody Out There?"[]

In a flashback, Althea and the group takes turns on the radio trying to reach out to strangers who might need help, to no avail. In the present, she and the group wait on the air filled for the rest to arrive.

Althea then witness the nuclear plant explosion in awe, making her and the group proceed to get the plane ready to leave. After everyone makes it on the plane safely, Al and Strand steer through the wall of smoke from the reactor filling the runway and make it into the open air. That night, the plane roars toward the dark runway as Wendell fixes the lights at the last second, allowing the plane to finally land.

Althea embraces Sarah and reunites with Daniel. Suddenly, a woman contacts Morgan on the radio, asking if that was his plane flying overhead. She's seen his boxes and wants his help. The communication cuts out as Logan interrupts the signal and says they need to chat. He pulls up in an old truck as everyone focuses their guns on him.

Logan tells Althea and the group the gasoline is going bad and that Clayton wrote down an oil rig location. He says if they hand over his journal he'll help them find it. They're skeptical, but he makes the case they won't be able to help anyone without it and suggests they should find it first before his former crew.

"Channel 4"[]

Sometime later, Althea and the group formed a convoy to travel throughout Texas to help others and invite them to join their community, while establishing additional outposts to recruit the survivors reaching out to them over the radio.

Althea records her companions during their journeys in an effort to show other survivors they are truthful to their mission of helping. She starts interviewing the group by asking why they want to help others: Morgan explains someone was trying to help him, Alicia explains that she used to kill walkers but now is looking for a new purpose, and John explains that this group is rich because they have skills.

Al presses Morgan on why he says they all need to start living. "I guess sometimes it's easier to see what other people need help with," he says. Al puts down her camera to kill a walker and then resumes her interview. She recalls how they raided a big stop to fetch camera batteries and equipment. Morgan explains that they made contact with more people, so they got more trucks to cover more ground. Sarah gleefully explains how they took Logan's oil truck and abandoned him on the road. Dwight admits he fell in with the right people and still hopes to find Sherry. Alicia explains she, Luciana, and Strand are the lead vehicle on supply missions. They map out the roads for the group. Morgan has been training her with aikido. "I think the change is good, it's what I needed," she confesses.

In the group's basecamp, June explains she runs the caravan with Grace, where they escort people to outposts when necessary. She promises they'll eventually find a place to call home. Althea then asks Grace why she was checking her neck earlier and Grace says she just wants to be prepared in case she gets sick.

Althea then accompanies Morgan to a house to help someone named Tess. She tells them she's waiting for her husband to return with her son's asthma medication but won't come outside because of the landmines. Morgan tells Tess they're recording the experience so they can prove to future survivors that they're legit. Tess explains she hasn't left the house since the onset of the apocalypse and Morgan promises to stay there until her husband returns.

As time passes, more walkers break through the fence and get immediately blown up by the landmines. June then radios Althea and the group to reveal that Tess' husband died. When Morgan hears the son cry out from the house, he sprints through the yard to get him. However, Althea tells him to freeze inches away from the porch after spotting a landmine next to his foot. John and Luciana join him as Alicia, Strand, and June arrive with the inhaler.

Morgan radios Tess that they have the inhaler but she has to come outside to get it. He then breaks the news that her husband is dead and she needs to come get the medicine. She tearfully asserts her husband is still out there. Al instructs Morgan on how to navigate the mine he's standing on. He digs around it as John hands him a screwdriver to get to the fuse. Al admits it's a 50/50 chance she's right.

Morgan prepares to pull the firing pin until Tess radios them to stop. She finally emerges from her house and admits her husband isn't coming back. She hands him a clothespin to use as Morgan tells Althea and the others to back up. He successfully takes his foot off of the mine and once out of range, it explodes. Morgan returns to give Tess and her son the inhaler. Althea and the group then confess they are proud that the woman stepped out for the first time in two years to help them and they were there to help her.

That night, Althea and the caravan dine together. She then asks the group what each want, with her saying she wants to make sure these stories are more than tapes. The tape concludes with everyone pleading with future survivors to help others.

"You're Still Here"[]

Althea and Morgan get attacked by walkers in a bank. After killing them, Al opens the vault thanks to an old interview she conducted with the manager. Inside, Morgan stabs another walker while Al locks her tapes in the safety deposit boxes to preserve them.

A while later, Al and Morgan run into Logan and his crew on the road. Morgan explains they're trying to help their friends but Logan says he won't move until they divulge the location of the oil fields. Morgan tells Logan he can help them but he declines. As they leave, Logan taunts to Morgan that helping other people won't make him feel better about not helping his wife and son. Morgan tackles him into the truck and holds his stick to his neck but Al stops him. Logan warns if he doesn't want people in his business then he shouldn't record it. Morgan backs off and leaves with Al.

Al then radios Alicia to update her on the roadblock. She apologizes to Morgan for keeping his family's story on the tapes. He reminds her he did it to prove to others they can trust them. Al calls bullshit and says what they do defines them, not their pasts. Alicia radios her to say they found the truck crashed into a fence and the man re-animated as a walker. Later, Al and Morgan reunite with Alicia and Strand and bury the man on the side of the road.

Al then looks as Alicia paints a tree and writes "No one's gone until they're gone" on it. She says to Morgan she'd like to hear more about his wife and son, to which he agrees smiling.

"Today and Tomorrow"[]

Althea finishes collecting supplies as Morgan watches tapes of himself. He then tells Al they should drop off more boxes before returning to the convoy. She reluctantly agrees and notices one of her gas cans missing. They quickly find a man filling up a car. He takes out a knife and begs them to leave. Suddenly, four horsemen arrive and the three of them are forced to hide in the van. The horsemen nearly discover them but luckily get distracted and leave.

Afterward, Al interviews the man they met. He introduces himself as Tom and explains the horsemen offered to help his community but later tried to kill him when they decided they didn't need him anymore. He explains his sister Janis is still stuck in the Paradise Ridge apartments and they have to find her. Al recognizes the phrase "It's not about today, it's about tomorrow" from Isabelle and promises to help him out.

In the night, Morgan asks Al if she really wants to save Janis or if she just wants the story. She tells him it's not just about the story and suggests she needs something else in there. Later that night, Morgan catches up with Al and warns her again not to go in alone. He prods her more about what's really going on and she dishes it back.

At the apartment complex, Althea and Morgan sneak in while a guard comes outside to kill a walker. They are caught off guard when a truck and some horses pull in. They recognize the tanker truck as their own. Althea reveals that she heard about the "tomorrow" motto from another person. Morgan encourages Althea to look for her person while he investigates their truck.

Althea finds their inventory board and location map, while looking for a connection to Isabelle. Morgan then radios warning her about a nearby walker. Suddenly, she is attacked and tackled into a swimming pool. Morgan jumps in after her and stabs the walker in the head. They swim to the surface as the generator lights pop on and Virginia and her pioneers compliment them on making a hell of an entrance.

The next morning, Al and Morgan remain holed up in an apartment. Virginia enters and introduces herself, explaining she watched their tapes. Morgan asks about Janis and Virginia explains she took off shortly after Tom. She also assures them their friends are fine, except for Logan. Virginia tells Morgan he should speak to a psychologist on her community about losing his family. Al cuts in and asks if one of her settlements has helicopters, but Virginia asks where she got that crazy idea. Afterward, Virginia escorts them to the gate and hands Morgan his repaired staff as a gift. She reminds them they can always join her group but they ignore her and walk away.

On the road, Tom apologizes to Al and Morgan for getting them into trouble for nothing, but they assure him they'll keep looking for his sister. Later, Al tells Morgan she cares about Isabelle and was hoping she would be connected to Virginia's group. Morgan tells her he doesn't think he needs to do tapes on his past anymore, signaling he might be finally moving on. Althea gets happy and then starts filling the gas on their truck to depart.

"Channel 5"[]

Althea, Morgan, and Althea finish watching Virginia's tape where she explains how her group operates and she slams the TV onto the ground in anger. Back in the caravan, Al and the group prepare another documentary. She interviews everyone and witnesses as Tom reunites with his sister, Janis. At night, Al and the group camp as Dwight kills a walker from one of the original western towns and John suggests that could be the settlement they've been searching for. Suddenly, Charlie calls out for June to run over and help Grace, who has passed out.

Althea and Alicia find meds at a hospital for Grace, which finally wakes her up. Later on, Morgan decides the group should leave in the morning. The next day, the convoy stops their truck because they realize its too heavy to make it across a bridge. The wires start to snap so Morgan instructs everyone to cross the bridge without the cars. Suddenly, Virginia drives up and offers to help, explaining she's been following them and can't believe they used extra resources to help Grace. However, no one listens to Virgina and she orders her people to shoot their guns in the air so a nearby herd finds them. She reminds them to give her a holler and drives away.

Althea, Morgan, and Strand handle the walkers as everyone works hastily to move the resources across the bridge while. When more arrive, Morgan is forced to move everyone across. Tom trips while recording as the truck falls through the bridge. He laughs at his good fortune until the bridge under him collapses too. Later, Al edits the footage until the batteries die. On the side of the road, Morgan tells the group they should continue and Janis says it's what Tom would have wanted. They ditch their trucks and make the journey on foot.

Sometime later, the group finds a billboard for the Gulch. Later on, they arrive at the gulch but see that it is completely overrun with walkers. The group debates their next move. Strand calls upon Al to do something but she doesn't want to let Virginia look good so she shuts down the cameras. When they are out of options, Morgan decides to call Virginia but Dwight decides to leave the group and travel on his own. As he leaves, Morgan apologizes to Janis and then radios Virginia for help.

"End of the Line"[]

Althea and the rest of the caravan survivors rest along the outskirts of Humbug's Gulch as Morgan contacts with Virginia for help. After a while, Dwight arrives with some horses and explains if they're alive then there must be water nearby. They argue over whether to stay or not and eventually decide to stay, where they'll deal with the walkers and Virginia. Al and the rest move into the Gulch, while a group leads the herd to ambush Virginia.

At the Gulch, Althea and a group discover that the horses were send by Virginia due to them sporting the pionner's keys insignia. A while later, the rest of the group returns and Al shows them the bodies of the people Virginia killed. She insists that they will die fighting Virginia, but Alicia wants to fight back. Morgan just wants to make sure everybody survives and reminds them despite their failures they still made a difference in the world, and they should keep living their lives.

Later, Althea attends John and June's wedding in the chapel, filming the whole ceremony. Suddenly, Virginia and her pioneers arrive in a SWAT truck-leading caravan to take the group into different settlements.

That night, the group gets separated and driven away. Virginia tells Althea she'll soon need to hear more about the helicopter and has her separated on her own for interrogation.

Season 6[]

"Alaska"[]

Althea and Dwight break into a funeral home and clear out the walkers, all while filming. Al then recites the time and place of their encounter to the camera, while Dwight loots a wallet off a dead walker and tosses it to Al. She checks the driver's license, but throws it away, as she already has several from Arizona. A walker then approaches, which Dwight believes could be from Alaska, one of the most coveted states for their driver's license-collecting game. After killing it, he is disappointed to discover the man is from Montana. Al notices there are 15 sleeping bags, which is more then the number of walkers they killed. Dwight goes to check upstairs, while All heads to the basement. She explores the processing room, before a voice sounds from a walkie. Al searches for a notepad to record the conversation. A female voice asks the other person if they copy. Al tells the voice that she copies, without pressing the push-to-talk button, revealing the female voice to be Isabelle. She fails to notice a figure creeping up on her until it is too late. As Al scrambles to find her weapon, she is grabbed by a remarkably well-preserved walkers, who seems to have trouble opening its mouth. Dwight comes to Al's rescue before she can be bitten and kills the walker. Dwight asks if the walker just turned, but Al smells formaldehyde, and concludes that someone embalmed the walker. Dwight radios their dispatch to let them know the status of the funeral home, but the Pioneer on the other end prevents them from going home until they figure out what went wrong, so they can avoid the same fate. Al doesn't want to stay, and is disillusioned with their new profession all together. Dwight tries to look on the bight side, and says that at least they're not in one of the settlements. He then shows Al a crate of beer he found.

They crack open their beers in the back yard, and are both disgusted by how stale it is. Dwight asks if Al thinks about "beer lady", a nickname for Isabelle she voices her disapproval of. Dwight remembers how Sherry used to say bad beer goes down better with pretzels. The pair toast to their respective loved ones. The walkie then comes alive, but Dwight grabs it before Althea can. He interrogates all about the voices on the radio, before realizing it's "beer lady". After making sure Dwight's camera is off, Al confirms that it is, that she's been tracking the group's movements, and that she knows where Isabelle might be. Excited, Dwight asks why they're not heading there right now. Althea tries to make excuses, but Dwight insists that she could run off with Isabelle, but Althea points out Ginny would kill them if she did. To this, Dwight suggests Althea fake her own death by passing off a walker corpse as her own, this being his plan in case he ever found Sherry. Al doesn't think it fair to but that kind of burden on Dwight, but he reminds her she is talking to a guy who walked half way across the country because his wife left him a note. Al points out Dwight hasn't found her, but he jokes that if he knew where his wife might be, and Althea didn't push him to go, he'd kick her ass. Al finally agrees to search for "Drop Site Baker", where Isabelle might be.

Come nighttime, they arrive to the base of an office building, where they find a discombobulated walker. Dwight kills it and checks its wallet, finally finding an Alaskan driver's license, much to his glee. Inside the lobby, they spot the phrase "The end is the beginning" spray-painted on the wall. Al muses how everyone is a philosopher when "the world goes to shit". Further inside, they dispatch three walkers and discover a caged rat at the base of the stairwell. Before they can make sense of it, a walker comes crashing on top of the cage. Dwight kills it, and the pair begin their ascent. A few floors up, they find the stairway cut off by a group of walkers pushing against a flimsy barricade. They squeeze past them just as the barricade gives way into a doorway. Inside, however, they are held at gunpoint by two survivors. One of them, Nora, demands to know what they're doing in the building, and if they're with the group on the roof. They deny this, so Nora tells them that the people landing on the roof won't save them, revealing that one of her friends that went to check fell of the side of the building after being shot by them. Nora then asks about the cameras, before ordering her collogue, Lee, to lock the pair in the office.

Inside the office, Dwight angrily confronts Al about Isabelle, questioning if she was the one that shot the man from Alaska, but she doesn't know. Nora then walks in, and asks if they just go around and record settlements that failed. Dwight explains that they're doing it to stop these things from happening where they live. Nora asks them to turn on the cameras, as they need their help. In the cubicles, they find Nora's group to be gravely ill. Dwight tries to give water to one of them, but is dragged away by Althea. She reveals that the survivors are suffering from bubonic plague, and believes that it's too late for the survivors. She leads him to the other stairwell, as Nora chases after them. Althea blocks the door with an axe, and once again tells Dwight that Ginny isn't going to help the survivors, before heading upstairs. Dwight doesn't want to continue, and dubs the fact that Althea still wants to seek out Isabelle crazy. Al retorts that calling what they've been doing "living" is crazy, citing their game of seeing where dead people come from as an example. Al goes on to confess that the last time she felt alive was with Isabelle, and thinks a chance to feel that way again is worth the risk. Dwight accepts this reasoning and follows her up.

A few floors up, Dwight asks how Al thought of the game in the first place, so she reveals that she used to play a similar game with her brother, only with license plates and no dead people. Dwight then asks what Althea is planning on saying to Isabelle. Al doesn't know, as she's only known her for two days. She asks Dwight what he's going to say to Sherry, but he claims to have come to peace with the fact he will never see her again. Al reminds him of the things Ginny said, but Dwight thinks these were lies. Al also points out Dwight heard her voice on the walkie, but he claims this was simply due to a combination of dehydration, exhaustion, and desperation. Upon discovering the north stairwell is full of walkers as well, Al searches for another way up. She finds a bit of patched-over drywall and knocks a hole in it, revealing a maintenance shaft inside. The two climb the water pipes and duck into a shaft, where they hear Isabelle signal that she will be arriving to the roof in 30 minutes. Unfortunately, they find the shaft infested with rats, that could possibly be infected. With no other choice, they crawl through and bust through a dry wall at the other end. They find themselves in a room separated by another makeshift barricade from walkers that have died from the plague. They retreat as the walkers start to break through. As they seal themselves in a bathroom, Al discovers a pustule on Dwight's neck, revealing that he's infected with the plague.

With the walkers claw at the door, Al feels guilty for getting Dwight sick, but he doesn't blame her. Still, she is determined to find him help, but he insists on getting her to the roof first. Al thinks this out of the question, but Dwight tells her that, after all the "crazy shit" he went through to find Sherry, this is the least he can do for her. As they continue to argue, they hear gunshots outside. Nora busts into the room. The pair thank her for saving them. Nora scoffs and orders all to call Virginia. Althea says that Virginia won't help them, but Nora isn't convinced. Dwight backs up Al's claims, but offers to go find a pharmacy and search for antibiotics. Nora reminds Althea that she's been exposed as well, but the latter brushes it off. They walk back to the barricade, behind which, Nora claims, is the exit to the roof. She also reveals that she worked in the building before the apocalypse and lived on the floor with the other survivors, but left with the others after people started dying. They only made it to the fifth floor, however, before more got sick. They successfully kill the walkers behind the barricade. Al and Dwight rush ahead, but stop when they see Nora mournfully observing a walker. She asks them not to record the walkers, as no one should remember her coworkers like this. She laments how it's hard to remember what they even looked like before. Al consoles Nora by giving her the driver's license of her friend who fell from the roof, for which she tanks her. Further ahead, Nora tells them the roof access is two flights up. Al supposes Nora thinks she's an asshole, but the latter denies this, explaining that she used to sell time shares to desperate people, despite not being brave enough to go to any of the exotic locales herself. She says that Althea much braver than she is, or just really stupid. Before Al departs, Dwight reveals that he doesn't think he'd say anything to Sherry if he ever saw her again, but would just hold her. Al tries to give him back her camera, but Dwight tells her to keep it, as he recorded something for her on it. The two hug each other goodbye.

Al finally makes it to the roof, two minutes before Isabelle's scheduled arrival. She sits down to watch Dwight's recording. Dwight asks her to crack a beer open with Isabelle for him, and to not forget the pretzels. Once the video finishes, Al hears a helicopter in the distance. After some deliberation, she picks up a flare and fires it into the air. She radios Isabelle and tells her to reverse course. Isabelle asks who's on the channel, but Althea just says that it's someone who wants to help her out. She explains to Isabelle that the building is infested with plague-infected walkers. Isabelle asks if Althea is infected, and the latter admits that she might be. Isabelle thanks her for the warning, but cautions her to stay off the channel. Isabelle also tells her that there is some beer in the supply crates, and hopes it isn't her last. Before she flies away, Al tells Isabelle it's good to hear her voice, because there aren't many people left. Isabelle simply acknowledges this, then flies away to another drop site. Al searches the supply crate for the beer, but also finds a crate of antibiotics inside. Overjoyed, she radios Dwight and tells him she's coming down.

After distributing the antibiotics to the sick survivors, Dwight asks Al what happened on the roof. Althea says that she lost a brother once, and that tapes are all she has left of him. She supposes she didn't want this to happen again. Dwight hugs her in response. Nora asks about what it's like where they're from. Al claims that they don't want to go there, but promises to find them a better place. The survivors soon pack up and head downstairs. At the bottom floor, Althea observes the rat cage once again and deduces that whoever spray-painted the wall caused the plague. Dwight thinks they should check in with the rangers, and Al agrees. A woman suddenly radios them and asks if they're in trouble, since she saw the signal flare. Recognizing the voice, Dwight snatches the walkie and asks: "Honey, is that you?" After some hesitation, the voice replies: "Dwight?" Dwight dashes outside and looks around frantically. In an alley, he spots a woman and sprints towards her. The woman is revealed to be none other than Sherry. Althea and Nora watches as the reunited couple embrace each other, with Althea smiling.

"Honey"[]

Hill radios Dwight via his walkie and asks why he and Althea missed the check-in. Dwight lies that they ran into a herd, an excuse which Hill accepts but demands that they head back immediately, as per Ginny's request. Dwight says that they wanted to check out some off-map spots, and that it will be worth it. Hill gives them 48 hours to do so. Dwight supposes Al, who was supposed to cover for him, must have gone out of range. Sherry asks if they should look for her, but he says he will go in the morning and doesn't want her mixed up in his mess.

The Outcasts reveals to Dwight that they have captured Althea. Ozzie threatens to have Althea killed if Dwight doesn't cooperate, and starts to count down from five. He is, however, stopped by Rollie, who is revealed to have joined the Outcasts after the demise of his group. Oswald protests that Dwight works for Ginny, but Rollie points out that he did too at one point, and orders Althea to be released. Rollie invites them to join him, as they're preparing to head out. The group arms up, with Rollie and Oswald revealing they plan on ambushing and destroying the S.W.A.T. van. Al warns them against this, as the van is designed to withstand explosives. Instead, she suggests they steal the van, which they agree to.

Dwight, Sherry, Althea and the outcasts wait for the S.W.A.T. van near the road. The S.W.A.T. van rolls by, en route to Lawton after a refueling. The outcasts chase the van on horseback. Dwight hops onto the moving van and sneaks inside. He kicks the driver out of the van and gains control of the steering wheel. Althea and the outcasts start searching for the driver. Morgan shows up on horseback with the captured driver in tow. Morgan, Althea and Dwight catch up with each other. Morgan explains that Virginia shot him and left him for dead at the gulch, but that someone saved him.

Sherry explains to Morgan that she plans to kill Virginia to save the life of her group. Morgan refuses to participate, because he knows that there will be too many casualties, and that he had already lived this experience. Althea agrees with him, but Dwight does not intend to step back. Althea and Morgan plot to steal the S.W.A.T. van from the outcasts to sabotage their plan. Dwight and the outcasts catch Morgan and Al in the act. Dwight locks up Morgan and Althea. Sherry tells the outcasts to lock up Dwight, too, so that he can sit out the ambush.

Dwight admits to Althea and Morgan that they were right about delaying the attack on Virginia. He starts cutting the ties around his wrists and vows to stop the outcasts from ambushing Virginia. Hill radios Dwight and Althea to ask where they are. No one answers. After receiving no response from Dwight or Althea, Hill and his crew get back in their cars and drive away.

To fake their deaths, Althea and Dwight dress two walkers in their clothing and set them loose for rangers to find. Althea, Dwight and Morgan return to a truck where survivors from the office building have been hiding out. The group starts traveling to Morgan's community by foot. Dwight draws a symbol on the truck for Sherry, with an arrow pointing her to the path they are taking.

"The Door"[]

Althea is seen when Dwight brings Alicia and Charlie to Morgan's community. Morgan radios Dwight and Althea and tells them to mobilize for battle against Virginia. He asks Dwight to request reinforcements from Sherry.

"Things Left to Do"[]

Althea, Alicia and Dwight greet Morgan and Virginia. Morgan explains that he agreed to let Virginia see Dakota in exchange for Daniel and Grace's freedom. Strand tells Althea that the rangers want custody of Virginia. Sherry and her group arrive in the SWAT truck. Althea radios Morgan that everyone outside wants to get their hands on Virginia. Morgan says Grace and Daniel will die if they turn Virginia over.

"The Holding"[]

Althea, Alicia, Wes and Luciana infiltrate a subterranean settlement called "The Holding", where workers turn walkers into soil to garden and grow food. Riley welcomes them to the Holding. Al quietly confirms with Wes that this is the place they were looking for. "The End is the Beginning," reads a message spray-painted on the wall. Riley interrogates Alicia's group and records their conversations for his leader, Teddy.

Althea's group tries to question Riley about his community. Riley takes Althea's group on a tour of the Holding and explains that all living creatures eventually decompose into the earth. He reveals that his group is planning to close its doors forever, so that no one will need to go above ground again. Riley deflects questions from Althea's group. He tells Alicia he has one question for her: "Can you see?"

Riley takes each member of Althea's group to the displayed walker and asks what they see. Luciana says that Riley's question feels like a trick. Riley says that his group likes skeptics. Althea asks Riley if everyone in the Holding must answer his question. Wes tells Riley he just sees a walker, then asks who painted the murals on the wall. He mentions that he used to be a painter, like his brother.

Over dinner, Wes tells his group that Derek didn't reveal anything suspicious and wonders if Virginia had been paranoid about Teddy's people. Derek joins them at the table but is urgently called away by Riley. Althea suggests they search Derek's bunk. Althea and Wes search Derek's room and find a stash of maps. Al realizes that Derek's group has coordinates for Tank Town and other settlements and is trying to harm communities as much as possible. Some of the maps also reveal the whereabouts of Isabelle's people.

Althea and the group escapes in the elevator with Derek. Alicia suspects that Derek is hiding something and refuses to take him back to their community. Riley captures Althea's group as they exit the elevator. Riley brings Alicia's group to an embalming room and threatens to kill and embalm them. He offers to spare their lives if they reveal Morgan's whereabouts. Wes realizes Derek betrayed them. Derek gets Riley's permission to try and show Wes the truth.

After confronting Derek about his near-death experience in Tank Town, Wes fights his brother, resulting in Derek's death and Wes holds Riley at gunpoint. The group escapes into a room filled with embalmed walkers suspended from the ceiling. Althea spots a walker in black uniform and peeks under the helmet to make sure it's not Isabelle. The walker snaps at Althea. Alicia kills the walker and slashes its throat to release embalming fluid. She orders her group to flee then lights the embalming fluid with a match, setting the room and the rest of the Holding on fire.

At the dam settlement, Althea, Wes, and Luciana tell Morgan, Dwight, Rachel, and Dakota that Teddy's community is planning something big. Morgan says they must help Alicia before they bring Teddy down. Althea tells Dwight that she must warn Isabelle about Teddy. Althea wants to go by herself. Dwight says if he doesn’t hear from her in a couple of days, he will come looking for her.

"The Beginning"[]

Daniel receives a transmission from Al with coordinates to a safe location, but the message is garbled and Daniel is unable to tell who it's from. After Rollie is revealed to be a traitor the group decides to take a chance on Daniel's coordinates.

After the group arrives at the coordinates, Isabelle arrives in her helicopter to rescue Daniel, Sarah, Wes, Jacob and Charlie. When Sarah attempts to question her, Isabelle, her face hidden by a mask, simply holds a radio out to the group on which Al tells them not to question the pilot as its safer for them and that Isabelle is there to help. Al explains that they were low on fuel and unsure how many people that they could lift out so she stayed behind. The group boards Isabelle's helicopter and she flies them to safety as a nuclear weapon detonates nearby.

Season 7[]

"Breathe With Me"[]

Althea shoots the walker that was attacking Sarah and alerts everyone that she is awake. They're joined by Daniel, Wes, Charlie, and Luciana. Luci tells Sarah that she was unconscious for two days. Sarah asks who the pilot was in the chopper that rescued them. Althea says it's better if she doesn't know. They inform Sarah that they haven't found Wendell. Sarah vows to find him, despite everyone's insistence that she'll die from radiation if she wanders far.

"Reclamation"[]

Althea is interviewed by someone on camera. Althea evades the interviewer's questions. Althea sifts through a bag of tapes in the SWAT van. A voice transmits over the radio. She heads outside to get a better signal. Althea puts on a gas mask and ventures off to find better reception. Morgan finds Althea's camera equipment in the SWAT van, but Althea is nowhere to be found.

Morgan records a video for Althea. He says the others told him that she had separated from the group while relocating to the submarine. He implores her to stop chasing stories. After putting down a zombified Riley, Althea overhears men on the walkie talking about reclamation. A chopper flies overhead. Althea races back to the van as the chopper touches down nearby. She enters the van and realizes her camera is missing. Morgan reunites with Althea and asks why she separated from the group. Al dodges his question and says they need to leave before the soldiers return.

Althea and Morgan flee. Morgan says he planned to rendezvous with Grace a couple of miles east. He again asks why Al didn't accompany everyone to the submarine. Althea says she is meant to be recording people's stories. In a flashback, Isabelle films Althea walking through the woods. In the present day, Althea and Morgan come under fire as they near the rendezvous point. Althea finally reveals that the soldiers are a reclamation team that's hunting down the pilot who rescued them from the nuclear blast. Althea says the pilot went AWOL after the rescue.

In a flashback, Isabelle records more footage of Althea. She asks if they'll ever see each other again. Althea tells Morgan that she doesn't know where Isabelle is. Grace pulls up in a car. Althea and Morgan get in and escape amid gunfire from the soldiers. Grace parks the car in the woods after they run out of gas. Althea offers to lure the soldiers away from the helicopter so Morgan and Grace can steal fuel and ammo for the SWAT van.

Althea arrives outside a church. In a flashback, Al and Isabelle arrive at the church with plans to hide out together. Al asks when Isabelle is due back. In the present day, Althea lures a walker away from the church. Morgan and Grace walkie Althea to report that they found fuel in the helicopter, but no ammo. Althea admits that she knew the helicopter wasn't armed and urges them to go home to Mo. Althea radios the reclamation team and tells them she knows who they're looking for. She says that Isabelle told her everything about what they do and also gave her top secret maps and flight plans.

In a flashback, Althea lies next to Isabelle on the church floor. She assures Isabelle that she understands the need for secrecy about her work. Althea tells the reclamation team that she'll give them the top secret maps and flight plans in exchange for an interview. She instructs them to meet her at the church in three hours and orders them to bring her camera. She's standing beside a cannon. Althea talks to a walker, rehearsing her meeting with the reclamation team. She yanks a trip wire attached to her leg, triggering the cannon. It shoots a cannon ball at the walker, blowing it up. In a flashback, Althea steps outside the church and sees Teddy's warhead launching into the sky. In the present day, Althea loads rocks into the cannon. She radios the soldiers and learns that they've captured Morgan and Grace.

The soldiers pin Morgan and Grace to the ground and threaten to kill them if Althea doesn't reveal Isabelle's location. Althea finally reveals that Isabelle is hiding in a cabin and offers to take them there if they release Morgan and Grace. Morgan and Grace resist the soldiers. Grace races to the van and runs the soldiers off the road. Morgan hops in and they flee. In a flashback, Al and Isabelle say goodbye at the church. Isabelle leaves to rescue Althea's friends. Althea radios Daniel for his coordinates. In the present day, Morgan and Grace drive to Althea's location. A chopper flies overhead.

Morgan radios Althea to warn her that the soldiers are coming. Althea rigs the cannon as Morgan pulls up in the van. A walker knocks over the trip wire. Morgan fixes it as the soldiers approach the van. Althea threatens to fire the SWAT guns if the soldiers get any closer. Grace revs the van forward, prompting the soldiers to fire. Once the van is clear, Morgan fires the cannon at the soldiers, blowing them up into pieces. Althea, Morgan and Grace drive off in the SWAT van. Morgan demands an interview with Althea.

Morgan interviews Althea, revealing him as the interviewer at the start of the episode. He asks why Al is striking off on her own instead of looking for Isabelle. In a flashback, Althea tells Isabelle that she can't join her. She ends the relationship. Althea tells Morgan that Isabelle wanted to be together. She explains that Isabelle gave up everything to save her friends, but that she couldn't give up reporting for Isabelle. She says she should never have become involved with Isabelle in the first place. They hug goodbye.

Althea searches the dead soldiers for maps of drop sites. Morgan rejoins her, refusing to abandon her. Someone radios the reclamation team and requests Isabelle's location. Althea goes to the helicopter. Dispatch reports that the reclamation team is being recalled because they've secured coordinates for the target. Althea tells Morgan they're going to find Isabelle no matter where she goes. Pretending to be a soldier, Althea tells dispatch that she's en route to the coordinates. She starts the helicopter. Althea arrives at Isabelle's cabin and tells Isabelle that she wants to stay together, even if they are constantly on the run. Althea destroys her camera and they kiss.

Trivia[]

  • As revealed in "The End of Everything", Al witnessed an unidentified National Guard unit and the U.S. Military engaging each other in the early days of the outbreak. Although unconfirmed, Al may have been in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh where the Pennsylvania National Guard fought to defend the cities from being destroyed in an event later referred to as the Second Civil War.
  • In "Weak", Al suggests that she could be getting sick due to low blood sugar and comments about how it hadn't been that bad for her in awhile due to Al being used to a full stomach recently. This suggests that Al might be diabetic.
  • When Al gets sick in "Weak", June suggests she might have cholera, dengue fever, or malaria. While no explanation is given for Al suddenly becoming so sick, near the beginning of the episode she drinks a water bottle from what appears to be one of Polar Bear's boxes which Martha had been seen to be tampering with, putting dirty water into a water bottle from one. Al drinking water from a tampered bottle could explain her sudden illness.
  • She is the fourth LGBT character in Fear after Victor Strand, Thomas Abigail, Cole, and before Isabelle.
  • Althea has been held captive five times. The abductors of Althea are the members of Madison's Group, Isabelle of the Civic Republic Military, members of the Pioneers, the Outcasts and by members of Doomsday Cult.
  • Althea is currently the only character in Fear The Walking Dead to be removed from the opening credits, despite being confirmed to be alive.
    • She is the second main character to be demoted to a guest starring credit in a later season, the first being Elizabeth Ortiz and the third being Charlie.
      • Although Elizabeth's guest appearance was as a corpse, while Althea was still alive.
  • Althea, along with her brother Jesse Szewczyk-Przygocki, are the only characters in The Walking Dead franchise to have a double-barrelled last name.
  • Both Althea and Isabelle were meant to appear in Season 8 but the actresses were not available for filming. Regardless, both characters are confirmed alive after the 7 year time skip.[2]
  • Althea is the first character originating outside of the TV Series to appear in archive footage on another show.
