Bell is among the majority of the crew to have been killed in the outbreak. He and other undead crewmembers are shambling in a corridor when a bitten Lieutenant Pierce charges at them in an attempt to take them down so Riley and McGuire may escape.

- With the submarine having a crew of more than 150 people, it is not impossible for more than one person to share a similar surname despite no familial relations. For instance, there are also two crewmembers named Appel and Farley on board the submarine.
