nah he just got tired of it all i reckon, having to step in over the telltale situation is what done it.
Wait are you saying TellTale was the reason why Kirkman wanted to end the comics?
Nah that is all pure speculation on his part. In reality there are probably a number of different reasons that lead him to end it now. For starters (and probably the key reason as to why he decided to end it far short of his 300 issue mark he talked about for years) is that he has been doing it for fifteen years already. Walking Dead isn't the only comic he does and he has started a couple new comics within the last couple/few years that he is probably a lot more excited about at this point then Walking Dead.
Second is that it is probably a lot harder for him to think of new ideas now that it has been going on so long. He had already kind of started recycling ideas. Just telling the story of the Carl/Sophia/Lydia love triangle wouldn't be enough to keep the comic going.
Third is that the Walking Dead really is a fading IP at this point. It really is appearing now that it is a fad that has come and gone. He probably wants to end the comic on a high note and not really run it into the ground like AMC seems to intend to do with the TV shows.
