They treated Savior lives as expendably as zombies, and it wasn't a good thing imo.
It's silly how many people the Saviors lost. First off, it's hard to justify- the Saviors had more or less the same equipment, had better communications, a better chain of command, and used military-style squad tactics. Not to mention that their members had survived just as long as everybody else, which meant at least a few of them should have turned out to be badasses like Rick's group. I suppose you could say that they were hamstrung by Negan's stupid decisions, but I feel that they still should have been able to put up a better fight than they did.
I mean, it's expected for the main characters to be at least a little overpowered, but the show barely even shows any random Militia mooks dying. Even if they showed that the war was costly on ordinary people, it might have been more tense. Mook-wise, the casualty ratio is still 6 saviors dying per 1 militia person. Kinda stupid considering how dangerous they hyped up the Saviors to be.
Yeah, yeah, all those Kingdom guys got murdered that one episode, but before that they killed like twice as many Saviors.
Anyway, if the show had killed off more good guys, EVEN unnamed good guys, it would have been a better watch. The thing is, so many Saviors died that it made be feel bad for them, since they were basically just getting slaughtered over and over again by seemingly invincible protagonists. I remember wincing every time a random prison inhabitant got killed by a zombie, or for every Alexandrian that got killed by the Wolves. I felt bad. But during Seasons 6-8 I was HOPING to see some random good guys die.
