You're breaking up with me? We're engaged, Blair.
―Brian after Blair breaks up with him.[src]

Brian is a character that appears in AMC's Tales of the Walking Dead. He is the ex-fiancé of Blair Crawford.

Overview[]

Brian is Blair's fiancé and shares a lot of traits with her, being a very arrogant, self-absorbed, and selfish man. He does seem to care about Blair, with her stating that he was a big help to her when her father died. However, nowadays he appears annoyed and disinterested at her talking about her own personal problems. When Blair starts going through a supposed time loop and dies over and over again, Brian fails to help her in any of them, instead staying in his car where it's safe, revealing his cowardly tendencies. Seeing him for who he really is, Blair breaks up with Brian, much to his shock. However, she still cares about his well-being and tells him to get to Jekyll Island and be safe.

Pre-Apocalypse[]

Atlanta, Georgia[]

Not much is known about Brian's life prior to or as the outbreak began, except that he lived in Atlanta, Georgia and was engaged to Blair Crawford, whom he consoled after her father passed away a year prior.

Post-Apocalypse[]

Season 1[]

"Blair / Gina"[]

Brian and his fiancée, Blair, are on their way to Jekyll Island for vacation. They stop for gas, but due to a catastrophic gas shortage, they are forced to wait in a line until the oil tanker arrives. Blair reads an article about the virus, but Brian doesn't want to hear it since they're on vacation. Blair begins complaining about Gina's incompetence. Blair lights a cigarette but Brian stops her, calling her nuts for smoking at a gas station when suddenly Blair becomes shocked seeing Gina at the gas station. Brian doesn't understand what she's saying, showing he probably wasn't really listening. As Blair rips into Gina for not doing her job, Brian grows impatient and honks his horn. As the situation escalates, Brian stays in his car the entire time, until the oil tanker is accidentally shot and blows everyone up.

However, a time loops happens and Blair and Gina appear back in their office and just like before, Blair and Brian go to the gas station and wait in line. However, Brian is unaware of the time loop and when Blair questions if he every experienced Deja Vu, he believes it's just the mind. The same events transpire, with Gina taking out her rifle. Blair gets out of the car to stop her, much to Brian's confusion. Once again, the oil tanker explodes and another time loop happens.

Blair and Brian are back at the gas station. He sees Gina with a shotgun approaching the oil tanker like before and wonders if it's staged. Brian watches in confusion as Blair and Gina argue. Brian yells for Blair to get back in the car, but she doesn't listen and goes after the oil tanker. They explode and another loop happens. After the two get into an argument, Blair and Gina proceed to fight and kill each other throughout many time loops. In none of them did Brian try to help or prevent the situation in any way.

After seeing the horrors of the outbreak, Blair finally realizes things are worse than they seem. After letting all the workers go home early, Brian enters and asks where Blair has been. Blair tells Brian he was great when her dad died, but seeing that Brian never helped Blair at the gas station and watched her die over and over, Blair sees that Brian is a coward and breaks up with him, much to Brian's shock. However, Blair tells Brian to get to Jekyll Island and be safe. Brian takes her advice and leaves.

It is unknown what happened to Brian and if he made it to Jekyll Island.

Trivia[]

  • Medrano explained that when he auditioned for Brian, the character was described as self-absorbed. For the audition, he was to play the role as "very self-absorbed" and was played out like the scenes in the car where Brian and Blair were both not really listening to the other.[1]
    • When Medrano was asked if he thought Brian ever made it to Jekyll Island, he said "there is a part of me thinking what Brian would do and what would Matt do." The actor ultimately feels that Brian didn't make it because he couldn't physically make it due to the traffic jams and the growing number of zombies. Medrano stated that he hopes that Brian would meet up with Blair again, redeem himself, and be less selfish, and then make their way to Jekyll Island together.
