Brian Heriot's whereabouts after the outbreak began are unknown. While the Governor was on his own after being abandoned by his men Martinez and Shumpert, he encounters a metal barn with Brian's name spray-painted onto it as some sort of a memorial. Someone was telling Brian not to "go home", and others said that they loved him. Many other people's names were painted on the barn. The Governor used Brian's name after abandoning his former nickname as "The Governor".

- Philip Blake lied to Tara, Lilly, Meghan, and David Chambler when he first met them and claimed that his name is "Brian Heriot".
- In The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor, the Governor's name is originally Brian Blake before he takes on the name of his brother, Philip Blake.
