You think I like this shit? Acting like some power-tripping five-o? Hm? I got a family too.
―Castro to Andrew Adams.[src]

Sergeant Castro (first name unknown) is a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. He is a member of the California National Guard.

Overview[]

Castro is a serious, no-nonsense soldier whose main priority is to follow orders and get things done. When Ofelia confronts him and the other soldiers, he goes in to restrain her and is angered when Andrew prevents him from doing so. While driving through the Dead Zone, when Moyers tells them to stop the truck to kill a walker, Castro vents his frustration, believing it not to be the best time. When Moyers attempts to push Travis to put down a walker, Castro decides to take matters into his own hands and put it down himself, prompting Moyers to yell at him to not too. At the end of the day, Castro does care for others and the people he serves to protect. When he and his squad enter an overrun library, he makes sure that Travis stays in the truck for his own safety. At one point, Castro admits he doesn't like doing some of the things he has to do. Castro and the other soldiers who survived the library decide to abandon their duty to go to their families.

Pre-Apocalypse[]

San Diego, California[]

Nothing is known about Castro's life prior to or as the outbreak began, except that he resided in San Diego with his wife and daughter and served as a member of the California National Guard.

Post-Apocalypse[]

Season 1[]

"Not Fade Away"[]

Sergeant Castro is one of the Guardsmen stationed inside the safe zone where Madison's neighborhood is located. He is one of the guardsmen to help detain Griselda Salazar and Nick Clark and bring them to the medical facility for observation.

"Cobalt"[]

When Ofelia Salazar confronted the guardsmen regarding her mother, Sergeant Castro moves in to restrain her. Andrew Adams intervenes and comforts Ofelia, insisting on taking her home. Castro is later seen at the gates with his men. Moyers orders Castro to prepare his men to take Travis to the command center. Castro complains, commenting on the loss of Nevins and lack of rest of his men, but Moyers ignores and mocks him.

While driving through the Dead Zone, Moyers spots an infected and orders Travis to shoot her, but Travis has trouble taking her "life". Castro, along with Richards and Cole, witness the event.

After receiving a distress call, Moyers and his squad drive to a library overrun with infected where another squad of their fellow Guardsmen was trapped. Castro orders Travis to stay in the Humvee, and proceeds with his fellow Guardsmen into the zombie-infested building. As Travis listens to the radio, it can be heard that Moyers' squad eventually run into some trouble, probably getting outnumbered, surrounded then overwhelmed by zombies.

A few minutes later, the squad came out without Moyers, also with zombies pouring out from the library door. A Guardsman tosses a grenade, while the squad rushed back to the truck frantically with Richards replying to Travis that Moyers "got held up (by zombies) and is not coming back". When Travis reminds him he was supposed to be taken to the command center, Castro ignores and claims he's fleeing to San Diego to find his wife and daughter.

He, along with Richards and Cole, dropped Travis a few blocks from the Safe Zone, and leave for San Diego.
