Chapter 1 is the first chapter of Image Comics' Rick Grimes 2000, featured in the first issue of Skybound X, alongside Clementine Lives. It is a continuation of the storyline from the bonus ending of Issue 75. It was released on July 7, 2021.

Plot

The continuing story of alien horror... begins here.

Synopsis

The Chapter begins with a recap of the previous events leading up to now. Rick is surprised to see his formerly deceased wife, however before they can rekindle, the Governor interrupts to convince Rick to join the aliens. Rick uses his mechanical hand to reach for an energy sword and engages the Governor in combat. Rick cuts off the Governor's mechanical claw, but before he can execute him, he's held at cannon point by Lori who tells him he doesn't know what he's up against and to surrender.

Goofs/Errors

• Even though it was Lilly Caul who had killed the Governor in #48, it is stated that Rick was the one who had killed him when the Governor exclaims, "Now I get to pay you back for killing me" with Rick then responding with "Or I get to kill you again".
