The Claimers Conflict is a minor conflict that occurred during the fourth season of AMC's The Walking Dead.

History[]

Rick and Lou's Fight[]

Rick is left alone in a house while Carl and Michonne are out gathering supplies. He falls asleep upstairs when suddenly he is awakened by the sound of men downstairs. It is the Claimers. One of the Claimers, Tony, enters the room as Rick hides under the bed. Not knowing he's under there, Tony lies down on the bed to get some rest. However, another Claimer, Len, enters and he and Tony fight over the bed despite Tony claiming it. During the scuffle, Tony sees Rick under the bed, but Tony passes out after being strangled by Len. Len falls asleep and Rick walks out of the room and tries to avoid being seen by any of the Claimers. He is nearly seen by Joe when he bounces a tennis ball in the back room where Rick is hiding.

Rick hides in the bathroom, not knowing that Lou is also there. After a short, brutal fight, Rick chokes Lou to death and acquires his submachine gun after leaving the bathroom door slightly open, presumably so his reanimated corpse can attack the others. He then leaves through a window and walks around the edge of the house. He sees the leader of the group, Joe, sitting on the porch, and is about to kill him when Joe hears screams inside, coming from Harley, presumably attacked by a reanimated Lou.

The Claimers' Downfall[]

While Rick, Michonne, and Carl are camped alone on a roadside, the Claimers ambush them, with Joe and Tony holding Rick and Michonne at gunpoint. One of the Claimers, Dan, creepily eyes on Carl through the car window. Joe taunts Rick about how they are finally going to get revenge on him for killing Lou. As Joe begins to count down from ten to shoot Rick in the head, Daryl comes out, "stopping him at eight". Joe hears Daryl out and Daryl tries to reason with him that the trio are good people and to let them go. However, Joe becomes angered and declares Daryl a liar, prompting Billy and Harley to start beating him up. Just then, Dan takes Carl out of the car and intends to rape him, much to Rick's anger. Rick tells Joe that he was the one who killed Lou and to leave the others out of it. Joe agrees with Rick's confession, citing it is not a lie and joyfully informs him that he will personally kill him after Daryl is beaten to death, and Michonne and Carl are raped and killed which will put an end to their conflict. As Joe is laughing sadistically, Rick head-butts Joe causing him to shoot his gun in reflex (and missing).

Rick punches Joe in the face, but Joe quickly counters back with another punch, knocking Rick to the floor before kicking him. Joe continues to taunt Rick and bearhugs him as he tries to stop Dan from raping Carl. Joe says, "What the hell are you gonna do now, sport?" Rick then bites Joe in the throat and rips out his jugular, killing him. The other Claimers look over in shock at the death of their leader, giving Michonne and Daryl an opening to kill them. Dan holds Carl hostage in an attempt to save himself, however Rick intimidatingly walks over and stabs Dan multiple times, putting an end to the Claimers.
