The Commonwealth Jail is a location in seen Season 11 of AMC's The Walking Dead.

Overview[]

The Commonwealth Jail contains a number of cells for the prisoners. At least some are equipped with an ankle monitor in case of an escape.

Despite being well-guarded, the jail appears to be more or less open to the public. Eugene and Max were able to visit Lance Hornsby without any challenges and Max and Yumiko did the same exact thing with Eugene later on. The only restriction appears to be that visitors must stand outside of the cell in question as they talk to the prisoner inside. High-ranking officials such as Lance and Governor Pamela Milton are immune to these restrictions.

After being overthrown, Pamela is locked up in her own jail for high crimes against the Commonwealth. Negan and Maggie consider this to be a fate worse than death for someone like Pamela.
