Daniel's Resistance is a group of survivors formed in Season 8 of AMC's Fear the Walking Dead, led by Daniel Salazar. It is a resistance movement against PADRE. Following PADRE's defeat, the group and the remnants of PADRE merge into Madison's Group to reform PADRE into what it was meant to be.
Overview
The resistance is formed out of individuals who seek to bring down PADRE, including parents who have lost their kids to the organization and people who have vital knowledge of PADRE's actions. According to one member, the group is building itself up into an army.
Post-Apocalypse
Season 8
"Blue Jay"
Adrian tracks down June Dorie after spotting her warning signs about PADRE. Adrian tries without success to enlist June's help to find his missing daughter Hannah and tells her about his group, trying to recruit her into it as June's knowledge of PADRE could be useful to them. However, June refuses to have anything to do with either Adrian or the group. Adrian warns June that, now that the group knows where she is, they will be back.
The next night, Adrian finds June, Dwight and Sherry in an abandoned lab aboard a train. Adrian mistakes their intentions with Finch leading to a standoff before Adrian becomes distracted by a radio call from Daniel. Dwight disarms Adrian and Sherry smashes his radio, but the train's control panel is damaged in the process, knocking out power and forcing Dwight and Sherry to go to the back of the train to hit an emergency override. Adrian continues his efforts to recruit June into the group, but she refuses.
When Dwight and Sherry fall into a car full of walkers, Adrian helps June to rescue them, saving her life and putting down several PADRE test subjects. However, one of the test subjects turns out to be his daughter Hannah whom June had tried to cure of a walker bite infection using radiation. Unwilling to live without his daughter, Adrian allows Hannah and three other test subjects to devour him in an act of suicide. Adrian's severed zombified head is later used by Shrike to bite Finch in order to force June to resume her work on the cure.
"Odessa"
Diane and a number of group members ambush Madison Clark, June Dorie, Mo, Dove and a captive Shrike outside of the train, demanding answers. June reveals that Adrian is dead after having found his daughter who had died a long time ago. Madison recognizes Diane and two of the other group members as parents whose kids, she had taken away as a Collector and Madison realizes that the group is made up of parents who lost their kids to Collectors. Mo tries to convince the group that Madison can help, but they are doubtful and decide to leave it up to the Commander. Much to everyone's mutual surprise, the Commander is actually Madison and June's old friend Daniel Salazar who Madison hasn't seen in 12 years. Daniel immediately has his friends released and their weapons returned to them.
While the group makes their way to a PADRE boat to get to the island for answers, Daniel explains to Madison how, after being abandoned in a swamp by PADRE who had considered Daniel too old to be useful, he found the group who were just parents desperately searching for their kids. Having lost his own family to PADRE, Daniel organized and trained everyone to fight back, finding a new purpose in reuniting the parents with their kids. Madison suggests using PADRE's files to expose the truth to the kids and to reunite the families. The group's numbers only continues to grow as they find more and more parents who are looking to rescue their kids from PADRE. Upon arrival at the boat, the group is ambushed by Hawk and his fellow Prefects, but the group reveals the truth to the kids, pointing out that some of their parents could be amongst the group's members. Although Hawk refuses to relent, he also hesitates to kill Mo, so she stays behind with Daniel, Diane and the others to hold Hawk and the others off. Daniel later reports in to Madison that the group was able to escape from Hawk and that Diane thinks that Dove is her daughter Alex.
When Shrike returns to shore with a recaptured Madison and June, Daniel and his group ambush the PADRE forces. Daniel offers to let them walk away unharmed if Shrike releases Madison and June, claiming that he has 12 more men deeper in the woods holding Hawk and the others hostage. Shrike eventually relents, but Dove refuses to join them, having learned that her mother is dead and that it's Madison's fault. As the group departs in the PADRE boat, Madison tells Daniel and Mo that while she's not the leader that the group is looking for since no one will follow her with everything that Madison has done, she thinks that Morgan Jones is the leader that they need.
"More Time Than You Know"
After Grace gets bitten, Shrike offers Morgan a deal to let him use the train car to cure her in exchange for Morgan clearing out the PADRE Shipyard. Shrike even offers to let Madison, Daniel and his people help too, which Daniel accepts at first. However, after Shrike reveals that the job needs to be done by hand, Daniel deems it to be too dangerous for his people and he backs out of the deal.
Daniel and his group later accompany June to Grace's Repeater Station as she attempts to treat Finch with Daniel joining her inside and Madison and several others standing guard outside.
"All I See Is Red"
Daniel and his people meet Morgan and Madison at the PADRE Shipyard where they help to subdue Morgan in his deranged state. Through June monitoring PADRE from Grace's Repeater Station, the group is able to learn of the movements of the Prefects through a swamp, chased by the massive herd from the shipyard, as well as the plans for PADRE's Expansion. With many of their kids being amongst the Prefects, the group braves the massive herd to help their children, clearing out the tail end of it outside of the swamp. However, after Morgan descends into another deranged state, he attacks everyone, and the group has vanished when he snaps out of it again and Madison is left unconscious and unsure of where everyone else went when she wakes up.
Daniel, Diane and the others later come to Madison's rescue when she's ambushed by Shrike, Ben and two PADRE guards. The resistance fighters kill the two PADRE guards and Daniel introduces Shrike and Ben to the parents of the kids that they had kidnapped. Daniel sends Madison to help Morgan and Mo while he and the others hold off the Prefects and attempt to get them to see sense. The group is eventually overwhelmed and captured, unwilling to kill their children, but the Prefects equally find themselves unable to execute their parents and Daniel attempts to use his own past to convince the Prefects not to go through with it. Morgan and Madison arrive with the coordinates that PADRE needs, having retrieved them from a zombified Krennick and offer them to Ben. Eventually, the two are able to defuse the situation and Ben and the Prefects stand down.
Following the defeat of Shrike and Ben, the group joins together with Madison and the Prefects to remake PADRE as it was always meant to be and to find the other parents of the kids and bring them to the island.
