Daryl's Knives are two saw-backed Bowie knives with finger rings that act as Daryl Dixon's primary weapon alongside his crossbow following the Savior Conflict.

Post-Apocalypse

Original TV Series

At some point following the end of the Savior Conflict, Daryl Dixon adopts these two knives as his primary weapon alongside his crossbow, using them against both the living and the undead. During the Battle at the Tower, Daryl takes advantage of Beta being distracted by Negan to slash the man with the knives and then stab him through both eyes, mortally wounding Beta. In Beta's hallucination, he removes the knives himself before embracing his death at the hands of his own massive horde. In reality, Daryl yanks the knives out and watches with Negan as the herd devours Beta.

While trying to fix his motorcycle, Daryl tries to use one of his knives after remembering that he gave his pocket knife to Carol, but the knife is too big to work. Daryl later uses one of his knives to take out a zombified soldier that has the knife that he needs.

During the raid on Fort Connors, Daryl uses them as throwing knives to take out two zombified soldiers that are threatening Carol. Carol retrieves the knives before being hoisted out and she returns them to Daryl. Daryl later again uses one as a throwing knife to kill Ancheta in order to stop him from firing the Reapers' hwacha at Daryl's friends.

After joining the Commonwealth Army, Daryl abandons use of his knives alongside his crossbow. Instead, Daryl uses one of the Commonwealth's AR-15s and a smaller knife provided to the soldiers.

During Sebastian Milton's "advanced military training", he selects one of Daryl's knives as one of his chosen weapons alongside Magna's axe. However, Sebastian misses the walker's head, and the knife gets stuck in its neck. Much to Sebastian's annoyance, Daryl finishes the walker off with his crossbow rather than leaving it to the struggling Sebastian.

When the Commonwealth and the Coalition prepare to go their separate ways, Daryl rearms himself with his knives and crossbow. After using Rick's old Colt Python to put down a reanimated Commonwealth janitor, Daryl draws his knives and, alongside Judith and Michael Mercer, puts down the remaining 5 walkers.

When conflict breaks out after Pamela Milton has all of the Coalition members rounded up and disappeared, Daryl uses his knives extensively alongside a stolen AR-15, killing two of Pamela's henchmen that attack him with them, and Trooper Jones after hitting him with a motorcycle. After finding a zombified Sebastian in Lance Hornsby's cell, Daryl puts him down with one of his knives despite his animosity towards the young man and being stunned at the scene that he finds.

While retaking Alexandria from the Commonwealth, Daryl uses his knives to put down a couple of walkers in the sewers. Later, he stabs and wounds the Warden from behind as he tries to escape with Kelly as a hostage, subduing him and saving Kelly's life.

Daryl Series

Daryl lost both of his knives on his way to France, but he takes a new one from Sue's Husband's boat. Daryl's knives and his crossbow were taken from him following his altercation with Juno at Fuller's Auto Repair in Maine.

While fighting a small herd of burners, Daryl uses his remaining knife to put down a few, going so far as to fling it into the head of the last one. Despite the burners' acidic blood, the knife does not appear to be damaged.

During a fight with Henri and Michel Codron, Daryl stabs Henri in the throat with his knife, killing him. It appears to be stolen by Maribelle and Guillaume when they rob Daryl.

As he prepares to leave the Abbey of Saint Bernadette, Daryl takes a new knife from their armory where it had been placed while Daryl was being treated for his burner wound.

While rescuing Laurent from a herd at the Eiffel Tower, Daryl lends his knife to Isabelle while Daryl uses his morning star instead. Isabelle uses the knife to put down a few of the walkers before Laurent is suddenly kidnapped.

When Capo and his men close in on them, Daryl gives his knife to Laurent for the boy's protection and orders Laurent to make his way to Mont-Saint-Michel on his own. However, Laurent surrenders himself in order to save Daryl instead. Daryl later retrieves his knife and morning star from the backseat of Capo's jeep and uses them to fight through a herd on Omaha Beach.

While Carol Peletier is eventually able to recover Daryl's crossbow from Grady, there's no sign of his original knives.

Trivia

• As revealed in an interview by Angela Kang, the knives were custom designed with Norman Reedus' help to make sure that Daryl had a good secondary weapon for hand-to-hand combat as the characters were starting to be more stingy with their bullets going into Season 9 and a crossbow is difficult to reload so it's not good for quick combat.
• In the flashbacks in "Deux Amours", Daryl is shown using his original knives and crossbow.
