Derek is a main character and a survivor of the outbreak in The Walking Dead: Red Machete.
Overview[]
Derek proves to be an incautious and careless survivor. While outside by himself, he puts on headphones and blasts music, despite it being an unwise choice due to it being easy for something to sneak up behind you. This is shown to be his downfall, as he is too distracted from his music to see a walker approaching him, which leads to him being devoured.

"Sorrowful"[]
Derek arrives at Mandy's house with two other survivors, with the intent of scavenging it for supplies. He climbs over the barrier of wires and cans, and the group enters the home and part ways. Derek walks into Mandy's room, unbeknownst to her location. As he looks around, he notices her red machete and decides to take it.
"Made to Suffer"[]
Derek is listening to music with a pair of headphones while cleaning his new machete with baking soda and water. He wraps some red tape around the handle that has Mandy's name carved into it. Distracted by his music, he is attacked by a walker and is eventually killed.

While listening to music and customizing the machete he stole from Mandy, he is caught off guard by a walker and plunges his machete into the walker's stomach, but this doesn't do anything. He is bitten on the hand and then devoured by the walker.
