The Israel Military Industries Desert Eagle is a large-framed gas-operated semi-automatic pistol designed by Magnum Research in the United States together with IMI in Israel.

Pre-Apocalypse[]

For 25 years, MRI has been responsible for the design and development of the Desert Eagle pistol. The design was refined and the actual pistols were manufactured by Israel Military Industries until 1995, when MRI shifted the manufacturing contract to Saco Defense in Saco, Maine. In 1998, MRI moved manufacturing back to IMI, which later reorganized under the name Israel Weapon Industries.

Post-Apocalypse[]

Abraham Ford, Negan Smith and the Governor were all known to use Desert Eagles, although the latter two preferred to use Lucille and a Beretta 92SB Nickel respectively.

Ian was armed with a Desert Eagle that he would use to kill people that he saw as a threat to Riverbend before lining up their skulls on a shelf in his office. Toby Carlson overpowered Ian and took the gun from him, using it to wound Ian and kill two Riverbend guards. After being unsatisfied with Ian's answers to his question, Toby executed Ian with his own gun. Toby then hung on to the gun for his own use, but discovered that the Desert Eagle had run out of ammo when he tried to kill Aaron with it. Toby continues to use the gun as he hunts down the residents of Riverbend.

During his final confrontation with Aaron and Gabriel, Toby has the Desert Eagle knocked from his hand by Aaron while Toby is distracted by Elijah's attack. Aaron retrieves the gun and, as Maggie and Annie join them on the roof, shoots Toby with it several times. The bullets cause Toby to fall off of the roof where he is devoured by his own reanimated victims.
