Douglas, also known as Doug, is a survivor of the outbreak and later an antagonist in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. He was a resident of the Dell Diamond Baseball Stadium community, alongside his wife Vivian. He later becomes a part of a group of bandits, although Douglas is shown to be remorseful for his actions. He served as one of the two secondary antagonists of the episode "Mother" (along with Vivian).
Overview[]
Douglas starts as a a polite, helpful, and respectful man. He was usually seen helping around the Dell Diamond Baseball Stadium. It was assumed that Douglas and the other stadium survivors were killed after a large herd of walkers overran them. However, it's revealed he and some of the others survived, but by the time Alicia reunites with him, he has turned into a cruel and selfish bandit who robs and executes other survivors for supplies. Though he seems to be remorseful for his actions, he goes along with his group's actions. He does greatly care for his wife, Vivian, and as he gets devoured along with his wife, he looks at her with sadness calling her name before dying.
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Location Unknown[]
Nothing is known about Douglas' life prior to or as the outbreak began, except that he had a wife named Vivian.
Post-Apocalypse[]
Season 4[]
"Another Day in the Diamond"[]
Douglas and his wife Vivian are consulted by Madison as she goes over the plan to search for Charlie's family outside the agreed range. They ultimately agree to the mission and help Madison's group secure a vehicle for the run.
That night, after Nick crashes a vehicle into a light pole, Douglas helps steer the pick-up truck back towards the settlement with Strand and Cole when suddenly the Vultures arrive. Luciana yells for the men to abandon the vehicle and get into the settlement immediately. Douglas makes it into the gate in time and arms himself along with the others.
The next morning, Douglas remains armed and on watch, but joins Madison and the others to help build a new housing unit in the dugout.
"Good Out Here"[]
While Madison and Nick scavenge for supplies, Douglas remains in contact with him over the radio, directing them to possible scavenging sites. Unfortunately, Charlie was listening to Douglas and the Clarks the entire time, giving the Vultures' the upper hand in finding much-needed supplies first.
"The Wrong Side of Where You Are Now"[]
Douglas is among the stadium residents to help prepare the soil on the crop fields for replanting. Later, he helps fortify the stadium walls with lumber and other materials in preparation for the Vultures' imminent attack. He argues with Strand about opening the gate again when Alicia and Nick venture out to rescue Mel. When the Vultures finally arrive, he is armed and on the wall with other residents, watching in horror as the Vultures unleash hundreds of zombies from their trucks towards the stadium.
"No One's Gone"[]
As the horde of zombies approached the stadium, Douglas and the other residents decide to flee since they did not believe the walls would hold. He and his wife, along with everyone else, gathered in the remaining vehicles and drove out into the parking lot. They were quickly overrun and feared dead as hundreds upon hundreds of zombies swarmed the caravan, though unbeknownst to Alicia, Nick, Luciana, and Victor, Douglas and the other stadium survivors managed to escape alive after all.
Season 6[]
"Mother"[]
Cole reveals to Alicia that Douglas and Vivian both survived the Dell Diamond Baseball Stadium's destruction thanks to the sacrifice of Madison. Later, a hostile group ambushes Alicia, Dakota, and Teddy at Mable's Parts auto shop. To Alicia's shock, Douglas and Vivian unmask themselves as part of the group which is made out of the remaining stadium survivors. Douglas apologizes to the shocked Alicia.
Cole's group escorts Alicia, Teddy, and Dakota back to their truck while Cole explains how his group had become bandits. Unlike Cole, Douglas expresses remorse for their actions, stating that they're not proud of what they've become, but don't see any other way. Douglas and Vivian search the truck for a map leading to Teddy's bunker, but urge Cole to leave before walkers are drawn to their position. On Cole's order, Douglas and Vivian join him in preparing to execute the trio with their shotguns, but the group is attacked by their own reanimated victims who had been left to wander the nearby woods. Despite their best efforts to fight back, Douglas, Vivian, and the others fall victim to the walkers.
After killing Cole, Alicia makes her way over to the partially-devoured Douglas and she discovers that he has reanimated. Picking up Douglas' knife, Alicia puts both him and the reanimated Vivian down.

Trivia[]
- While all of Douglas' appearances in Season 4 were in flashbacks, Douglas' appearance in Season 6 marks the first time his character appears in the present day in the current timeline.
- Douglas' death is ironic as the way he and his wife die is almost a complete inverse of how their original disappearance was depicted. Their final scene in Season 4 showed Douglas and Vivian comforting each other while inside a car, while their deaths depict them being separated on opposite sides of the outside of a car.
