Earl is a survivor of the outbreak in Skybound Entertainment's Comic Universe. He is a minor character in Thomas Dunne Books' The Walking Dead and a minor antagonist in Image Comics' The Walking Dead. He is a resident of Woodbury and a soldier in the Woodbury Army. He is described as being a "bearded behemoth biker".
Pre-Apocalypse[]

Nothing is known about Earl's life before or as the outbreak began, except that he was a biker and possibly in a bike gang.
Post-Apocalypse[]
Woodbury, Georgia[]
At some point Earl arrived at Woodbury, Georgia and became one of the Governor's men.
The Fall of the Governor - Part Two/Made To Suffer[]
After the Governor was tortured and mutilated by Michonne, Earl was tasked with standing guard in front of the infirmary to keep Philip's condition and status a secret from the town's residents. When Lilly asks him what's going on he provides no help or information about the Governor's whereabouts.
Earl is seen during a flashback in Issue 43. He is seen among the crowd during the Governor's speech about the prison survivors where the Governor reveals Martínez' severed head.
Earl participates in the prison assault and survives the first attack. After regrouping, he takes watch for the night with a 20-gauge. During the second assault the next morning, Earl isn't mentioned again leaving him either shot or devoured by biters.

- The picture used on this wiki is an assumption of what Earl looks like based on his novel description paired against background characters seen in the comics.
- When Volume 8 was originally released, it appears Earl was originally the same character as Austin Ballard due to their similar appearance and the position they're sitting in Issue 43. The novel series retconned this and they are canonically separate characters.
