Elton's Axe is a small handheld axe used by Elton Ortiz replacing his fisherman. It appears to be homemade, presumably by the Perimeter.
Post-Apocalypse[]
After arriving at the Perimeter and having abandoned his fisherman at some point, Elton Ortiz adopts this axe as his new weapon. He first uses it while fighting through a herd to the culling facility to see Silas. Elton later uses it while taking down empties in the woods at night with Asha.
When Elton and Silas enter the Civic Republic Research Facility in search of medical supplies, Elton hits Webb over the back of the head with the handle of his axe to save his friend, knocking Webb out. However, Webb recovers from the blow and chases after the two, ultimately getting eaten by the herd that Elton and Silas had drawn to the research facility after drawing their attention to himself.
A short time later, Elton uses the axe to fight his way through the herd to the culling facility alongside the rest of the Endlings. However, while Elton, Hope and Iris are fighting their way to safety, Elton is bitten in the arm while protecting Hope and has to undergo an amputation.
Elton ultimately survives both the bite and the infection. Some time later, Elton is still carrying his axe when the Endlings make it to Portland.
