Why are we running weapons drills anyway? We're in the Gulf of Mexico.
―Farley questioning their orders.[src]

Farley (first name unknown) is a character in AMC's Dead in the Water. He is a crew member on the USS Pennsylvania, serving as a weapons operator.

Overview

Farley is a hard-working individual who always follows orders. However, he sometimes jokes around with his crewmates and sometimes questions orders, but he will always listen to his superiors. After the outbreak begins in the sub, Farley manages to survive for a while. He eventually finds some of his crewmates, but he ends up being accidentally shot by a paranoid Alvarez.

Pre-Apocalypse

Southern United States

Nothing is known about Farley's life prior to or as the outbreak began, except that he had been a U.S. Navy sailor for over 12 years and worked as a petty officer first class aboard the USS Pennsylvania, and lived around the Gulf of Mexico.

Post-Apocalypse

Dead in the Water

"Something Bad"

Farley is among the crew participating in a training exercise led by Jason Riley in the submarine's weapons room. He cooperates with Winokur and Middlebrook as they work through the training exercise. When an outbreak occurs aboard the submarine, Farley manages to hide within a corridor as his fellow crewmembers are killed and turned by one another.

"Incoming"

Later, as Riley, Pierce, and Alvarez attempt to silently make their way down the corridor, Farley suddenly emerges and surprises Alvarez, prompting the latter to shoot the former, resulting in his quick death.

"This Ain't It"

Farley later reanimates and bites Pierce on the ankle as he holds a door open so that his fellow survivors may flee. The undead Farley is then put down for good by Riley with a makeshift spear to the head.

Trivia

  • In Fear the Walking Dead, there is a second crewman named Farley.
    • With the submarine having a crew of more than 150 people, more than one person can share a similar surname despite no familial relations. For instance, there are also two crew members named Appel and Bell on board the submarine.
