Jess Collins is a survival of the outbreak in The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. He is the half-brother of Will Dixon and half-uncle to Merle and Daryl Dixon.
Pre-Apocalypse[]

Jess was born in 1953. He was the only one that actually ever shown a little attention to Daryl, he even bought Daryl a crossbow for his birthday but he throws away the attention as he is still trying to earn his father's respect. He is Will Dixon's half-brother, meaning he is Daryl's and Merle's half-uncle. It is revealed that Jess was a handyman before the apocalypse, and is depicted as having a tough personality. He performed a variety of odd jobs and services, some illicit, for his older half-brother Will Dixon. Tough and loyal to his family, Jess is a good fighter and a seasoned hunter. He was also a war veteran and has up to 4 to 5 years of heavy aircraft weaponry experience. After retiring from the war he got a job as a handyman in a local town. He also likes to still pursue his hobby of hunting and takes Daryl and Merle out hunting with him.
Post-Apocalypse[]
Act One: Sorry, Brother[]
"Cabot Ridge"[]
After Will Dixon is disemboweled by walkers, Jess comes in and shoots the zombie eating him. His shock at seeing his half-brother in such a state causes him to get taken by surprise and bitten on the arm by a walker. He kills the walker and Daryl arrives. Jess says they have to put him out of his misery. Daryl attempts to, but can't bring himself to do it, so Jess takes the gun and shoots him saying "Sorry, brother".
After the death of Will, Jess remains with Daryl. Jess is seen with Daryl Dixon in his boarded-up cabin in the woods. Jess complains that walkers are surrounding the house and informs Daryl they had to leave. Jess sends Daryl for three cans of gas. Daryl returns to Jess honking the horn, as he enters Jess' pick-up truck and they drive off.

"Garwater" or "Pemberton"[]
Later, while he and Daryl are searching for a new vehicle, he reanimates. Daryl later discovers him as a walker near the vehicle they are taking. At first, he mistakenly believes that he is alive, but soon discovers the contrary, killing him.
