Located in rural Georgia, Fort Valley State University was home to the West Peachtree Techical College campus, which included a veterinary school. Hershel was apparently familiar enough with the college to draw a map from the prison, 50 miles away. Mr. Crank was a staff member at the college, according to a sign with his name on it in a building.
Post-Apocalypse[]
During the onset of the apocalypse, the university was used as a safe zone, however, at some point it fell. It's fall may have had something to do with the flu that also his the prison as many of the walkers inside had similar signs to those who were dying in the prison.
At a council meeting, Hershel mentions that the University has the medical supplies they need to combat the flu. He draws them a map to the University, and Daryl, Michonne, Bob, and Tyreese volunteer to go.
After narrowly escaping a massive herd, Daryl, Michonne, Bob, and Tyreese scavenge the University for medical supplies, while avoiding any infected walkers with blood on their eyes. After a narrow escape through a window, Daryl discovers that all Bob had taken from the University was a bottle of alcohol. He states that he should have left him on the road. After this, the group leave the University in a minivan.
The college appears briefly in a flashback as Michonne is watching Sasha put down walkers and she flashes back to her own walker killing at the university.
