Nothing is known about Franklin's life prior to or as the outbreak began. It's possible he worked in construction given his outfit.

Franklin meets Noor at a small encampment on the shores of the Mississippi River, the two quickly bond. When the camp is set on fire and overrun by walkers he and Noor escape and make their way to a levee on the Mississippi.
