Georgia is a state in the United States of America and is the main setting of most The Walking Dead media. Its population is over nine million. It appears in the Comic Series, TV Series, Telltale Series, and Tales of the Walking Dead.

History[]

Pre-Apocalypse[]

Before the Europeans arrived, Georgia was inhabited by the Mound Builder tribes. The British colony of Georgia was founded by James Oglethorpe on February 12, 1733. The colony was administered by the Trustees for the Establishment of the Colony of Georgia in America under a charter issued by (and named for) King George II. In 1752, after the government failed to renew subsidies that had helped support the colony, the Trustees turned over control to the crown.

Georgia was one of the Thirteen Colonies that revolted against British rule in the American Revolution. After the war, Georgia became the fourth state of the Union by ratifying the Constitution on January 2, 1788.

Blair and Gina worked here at the Circle of Trust Insurance Company.

Post-Apocalypse[]

Not a lot is known about Georgia during the outbreak. It can be assumed that it followed the example of California, with state and local police being among the first responders, with these first responders being joined by military units if and when a state of emergency was declared.
