Hershel's Story - Bearable Hardship[]
Shawn returns from his failed supply run, glad to see his family again. His family, having expected him to die are rejoiced to see him. Shawn apologizes to Hershel for not heeding his advice of not going into the city. Although Hershel wanted to scold his son, he knew what he saw in the wasteland was enough to scar him for good. Despite this, he still asked his son how the city was. After Shawn failed to properly answer, Hershel understood of the severity of the situation and begins to formulate a plan on reinforcing the fence and having a rotating guard schedule.
Suddenly, several loud bangs are heard on the door. Hershel begins to grab his shotgun before going to investigate. Before fully reaching the door, he asks who's there, only to find out it was Mr. Atkinson. Hershel and Atkinson discuss the current apocalypse; how Shawn went into the city, the severity of the situation, and how everyone needs to be on guard. Atkinson came by to drop off a duffle bag of guns, knowing that the Greene Family would need it given that they only have the one shotgun. He also gives them a key for the rest of Atkinson's cache in his basement in case they need to get to it. Hershel accepts everything but wonders if Atkinson should leave, however Atkinson states that he needs to get to his kids who are in Atlanta and reassures the family that he'll be back soon.
The family has dinner from some of the food that Atkinson had left them. Hershel begins to pray with his family before they eat.
Dale's Story - A Startling Realization[]
Dale wakes up from a nap and when he decides to stand up, he immediately falls as he forgets that he is missing a leg. Dale is alone as Andrea, Glenn, and Maggie have taken Sophia, Ben, and Billy to go fishing. After putting on his leg, Dale wanders around the farm and eventually reaches Hershel's study room. He looks at the several books that are there and picks up two of them. When walking back, he falls down again as he hadn't properly fastened his leg. He gets up and takes his books to read them.
Rick's Story - A Changed World[]
While hunting for food for the Greene Family Farm, Rick encounters a man who also happens to be looking for food. Rick searches him to make sure he doesn't have any weapons that can be used against him. Rick invites the man to join the group, something the man nervously accepts. While walking back to the farm, and because of seeing how nice Rick is, the man admits that he's been bit by a walker and is slowly dying. Rick says that they'll find a way to figure it out. Soon afterwards, they are both attacked by zombies, and in the process the man is bit again. The man begs Rick to kill him so he doesn't turn into a zombie, something he complies with.
Maggie's Story - House Of Memories[]
Maggie and her assistant Anna are carried inside a carriage along a countryside, protected by numerous Commonwealth Soldiers. Anna asks how it was living in Georgia before the world turned, something which Maggie responds by sharing good memories of her time there. Knowing that Anna grew up in The Commonwealth her whole life, Maggie begins to describe how life was before the fall. On their way to the Greene Family Farm, they pass the house of one of Maggie's former neighbors, Mr. Atkinson, whom she recalls fondly. She recalls his expansive gun collection and how he went over to the farm when the fall happened to give the Greene Family some of his guns before he left for good. Maggie asks Anna to tell the soldiers to clear out the house so she can go inside, something that's quickly done. Maggie then goes inside and heads towards the basement and looks for a secret compartment where a hidden submachine gun was located. She recalls how one time her and Glenn sneaked into the house to have sex and found the submachine gun, but that they didn't take it with them so that their secret wasn't exposed. She tries to feel something afterwards - sadness, joy, anger, frustration - but at the end she feels nothing given that those memories are from a bygone era. She then leaves the basement with the submachine gun.
