A newscaster delivers around the clock coverage on a recent phenomenon of the dead rising up and killing the living, something that the Grimes family hear. Rick doesn't believe said news, much to Carol's chagrin. Rick goes on to turn off the TV when they hear a knock on the door. Rick answers the door and is attacked by a zombie. After trying to talk to the zombie, Rick shoots it, much to Carol's shock.
