Our parents abandoned us!
―Hawk to Daniel.[src]

"Hawk" (real name unknown) is a former antagonist and a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. He is a resident of PADRE.

Overview[]

Like many of the kids at PADRE, Hawk is shown to be a loyal and brainwashed Prefect. Having been trained to follow orders his whole life and being led to believe that their parents abandoned him, Hawk attempts to stop anyone who opposes PADRE. However, when being forced to kill another living person, Hawk is unable to bring himself to do it.

After defecting as a prefect, he joins Madison and the other survivors in doing certain tasks. Hawk is visibly interested when Dwight and Sherry mention that they're going to be searching for the still-missing parents of the PADRE kids, suggesting that Hawk has yet to be reunited with his family and now wants to find his parents again.

Pre-Apocalypse[]

Location Unknown[]

Nothing is known about Hawk's life before or as the outbreak began.

Post-Apocalypse[]

At some point following the outbreak, Hawk joined a community called PADRE. One of Hawk's jobs was to collect the fuel left for PADRE by the Gearheads.

Season 8[]

"Odessa"[]

As a leader of his troop, Hawk leads his fellow prefects on a mission on the mainland. When Dove and Mo breakaway from the troop in search of the Coastal Railroad Museum traincar, Hawk radios Dove for her whereabouts. A short time later, Hawk and the rest of his troop aim their weapons at Mo, Madison, June, Daniel, and the rest of his group, as they attempt to take the prefects' raft to PADRE. The two groups aim their weapons at each other and refuse to back down, with Hawk threatening to shoot Daniel and the rest of the parents, as Shrike instructs him to ignore the parents' questions and focus on freeing her. Mo steps forward, knowing Hawk won't shoot her, allowing Madison and June to take Shrike and Dove to PADRE to learn about Dove's mother, as Daniel and the others keep Hawk and the prefects at bay.

"More Time Than You Know"[]

Hawk, along with Dove and the rest of their troop, hunt fugitives Morgan, Grace, and Mo. They eventually find Magpie and Kingfisher on the road where the fugitives escaped and radio in their discovery to Shrike. They then follow a decoy trail started by Dwight and Sherry though they eventually get back on track and head for the Coastal Railroad Museum traincar to confront young Mo. As Mo gives a speech to the prefects, Hawk asks Dove what they should do, but stands aside with everyone to let Mo and the dying Grace access the train car. However, Hawk and the prefects take away Mo's handcart that was used to travel the train tracks, and fire a flare in the sky to let Shrike know the location of the fugitives.

"All I See Is Red"[]

Hawk, Dove, and the other prefects are tasked by Shrike to clear out the shipyard of the undead. When the prefects opened the shipyard gates, they were overwhelmed by the dead and pushed back towards the water. The youngsters led the herd into the swamps with Shrike planning to meet the prefects on the other side of the swamp. The prefects were tasked with searching for a particular undead by the name of Krennick to find very important coordinates for PADRE's expansion plans. The prefects soon become bogged down by the hundreds, if not thousands, of zombies making their way into the swamps, forcing the youngsters to seek refuge near a houseboat and shooting a flare to alert their superiors of their location. Hawk and the prefects begin to spread out in the swamp and take out the undead using their staffs before splitting up to cover more ground in the search for the coordinates.

Eventually Hawk, Dove, and the rest of the prefects arrive as backup at a confrontation between PADRE and Daniel's Resistance, announcing that it doesn't matter how their parents see it as none of them are going back with them. Dove orders them to drop their weapons, confident that the resistance fighters won't shoot and that they're stuck trying to live a life that has been dead for a long time. However Daniel and the resistance fighters open fire, in which the prefects shoot back, allowing Madison to escape the scene in a boat. Having overpowered Daniel's forces, Ben and the prefects have them kneeling on the ground, preparing to execute them. Mo arrives and Dove claims that the resistance fighters had tried to stop them from fighting the walkers because they didn't have what it took. Telling the kids that this is what they trained for, Ben orders them to shoot the adults, but they all hesitate. Dove reiterates the order, but the prefects continue to refuse to act. Over Ben and Dove's continued attempts to get the prefects to kill the adults, some of whom are likely their own parents, Daniel tells everyone that "they won't do it. Making a child kill for the first time is harder than you think. Don't listen to them! When I was young, I was in the exact same position you're in right now. I wish someone would have stopped me then. You do this, it will haunt you for the rest of your life, you will never be able to back away from it." Despite Ben and Dove's best efforts, the kids listen to Daniel's advice, and they continue to hesitate to fire. Ben and Dove focus on a nervous Hawk, pressuring him to do it. Fortunately for all involved, Mo and Madison are able to diffuse the situation, handing over the coordinates to Ben and in return, the prefects stand down and no one is harmed. Shortly after, the prefects gather on a beach with the adults and listen as Madison announces that there's files on the island telling them where the kids came from and who their parents are. Some of their parents could still be out there and Madison intends to find them, bring them here and turn PADRE into what it was meant to be in the first place.

"Iron Tiger"[]

Hawk accompanies Daniel, Victor, Madison, and two others as they travel to the Lowcountry Landing gas station off the coast of the mainland as that was pick-up point where PADRE would receive tankers of fuel from Luciana and her team. After finding the tanks empty at the gas station, Hawk and the group seek refuge inside the building as zombies approach their location. When the group notices the gas station building is in good condition and fully stocked, Daniel grows suspicious and has Hawk follow him as they clear the building. Hawk is asked by Victor if he is sure that the gas station is the pick-up point for fuel, to which Hawk replies yes. After the survivors are saved by Luciana and her group, Charlie arrives with a tanker of gas but Luciana orders the group to stay inside and wait in an effort to conceal Charlie's existence from Madison. However, Daniel orders his men to accompany him outside as they go to see what Luciana is hiding. Hawk raises his gun at Luciana's group when her people raise their guns at Madison as she approaches the tanker, but they all stand down after Charlie exits from the tanker. When Madison flips out after learning that Charlie shot Nick, he helps escort Charlie inside the gas station away from Madison.

After Charlie is captured, Hawk accompanies the rest of the group and one of the Gearheads to the occupied Emissary Suites settlement in an attempt to rescue her. He and the others draw their guns at Troy's group as they attempt to negotiate deal for Charlie's release. Hawk is shocked when Charlie ends up committing suicide and helps another man restrain and drag away the grief-stricken and furious Daniel. The group finally retreats, and Hawk eventually returns home to PADRE.

"The Road Ahead"[]

At PADRE, Hawk is atop the fort's walls with Dwight, Sherry, June, Odessa, Diane, Frank, Klaus, and many others as they stare in shock at a barge filled with hundreds of zombies when the captive Russell explains that his men was able to gather up another herd to unleash onto the island. Dwight then orders everyone to get inside the fort as the undead are unable to penetrate the thick stone walls. Later that evening, Hawk is among the residents gathered inside the fort's walls as zombies overrun the island. He and the other survivors listen as Dwight shares the plan on how they will escape, instructing the fighters to clear through the undead with the noncombatants following behind. The residents make their way across the island and end up at the structure where combat training classes were held. As the undead surround the structure, Hawk and the fighters attempt to hold them off as the others flee upstairs to safety. During the defense, he suffers a head injury and is tended to by Marietta and June. Eventually Hawk and all of the other PADRE survivors escape the island without any serious casualties after Madison shows up and leads the horde inside the fort and triggers an explosion, destroying it though the settlement is ruined in the process.

Several days later, Hawk is among the survivors part of a caravan called MADRE until they stop at an intersection and split up into groups, using radios and maps to stay in touch with each other. He is visibly interested in Dwight and Sherry's intention to find the still-missing parents of the PADRE kids, suggesting that Hawk has yet to be reunited with his own family.
