Hera is a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's Tales of the Walking Dead. She was the original leader of the Whisperers.
Overview[]
Though she is only seen briefly, Hera plays a major role in that she was the original leader of the Whisperers. Not much is known about her personality, however according to Channing Powell, Hera's Whisperers are "very different" and "more human" compared to Alpha's, most likely meaning the Whisperers were initially not a hostile group under her leadership. When Hera first encounters Dee, she allows her and her daughter into the group, though isn't opposed to violence and immediately knocks Dee out. Eventually Dee kills Hera and takes over as the new leader of the Whisperers. However, she is seemingly grateful towards Hera for showing her love and bringing out her true nature.
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Location Unknown[]
Nothing is known about Hera's life prior to or as the outbreak began.
Post-Apocalypse[]
At some point during the outbreak, Hera became the leader of a survivor group known as the "Whisperers". The group used the skin of walkers as masks in order to blend in and walk amongst the undead, using whispering as their prime form of communication in order to keep up the façade.
Season 1[]
"Dee"[]
Hera and a group of masked individuals emulating the undead, watch on and whisper comforting words from afar as a mentally fragile Lydia sits near the trees in a wooded area. Mistaking the whispers as fairies, Dee decides to put her daughter out of her misery, raising a knife while holding her closely. Although she ultimately decides against it, the mother and daughter are interrupted from the Whisperers' pleas to spare the girl until emerging from the woods and approaching them entirely. Hera introduces herself to Dee, telling her not to speak, but whisper, before kicking her in the face, knocking her unconscious.
In the years following these events, Hera was eventually killed by Dee for unknown reasons. After being established as the group's new leader, Dee carved off Hera's face and used it as her Whisperer mask.
