- He requested to leave the The Walking Dead after Darabont was fired as showrunner and Dale was subsequently killed off.
- Prior to his character's death, it was reported that an unidentified cast member had asked to leave the show, but then had a change of heart, which many assumed to be DeMunn.[1] However, when Chandler Riggs and Darabont confirmed that DeMunn left due to Darabont's firing, neither made mention of DeMunn changing his mind.[2][3]
