These kids deserve a real childhood, someplace where fear isn't the norm. If I can give them even a sliver of that, I'll die happy.
―John to Michonne regarding the safety of his family. (Determinant)[src]

John Fairbanks is a survivor of the outbreak in Telltale's The Walking Dead: Michonne. He is the father of Greg, Samantha, Alex, and James. He is said to be less trusting towards others after his wife's death.

Overview[]

John is a strict, stern, but wise and caring father. He cares for his children's safety greatly and it's said that he has protected them since the start of the outbreak. He is horrified to see a wounded Samantha and is devastated to hear of his Greg's death. He has had to deal with much grief and loss, such as the death of his wife and now one of his sons. However, he still pushes forward for his remaining children, seeing that he is all they have. However, he shot by Randall shortly after this.

Pre-Apocalypse[]

Chesapeake Bay, Virginia[]

John studied Law at the University of Virginia, working as a house keeper to pay his through it. He eventually graduated and became a well-off lawyer before the apocalypse. He had a wife, Sophia, and four children, Greg, Samantha, Alex and James. He lived in a large house, and sometime during the apocalypse, barred up the gate and made it a safe haven.

Sometime during the apocalypse, his wife committed suicide, whom he and Sam then buried. Due to the way she died, he didn't tell the younger children how she died, meaning they never gave her a formal funeral.

Post-Apocalypse[]

Michonne[]

"Give No Shelter"[]

John is first seen when Michonne brings in Samantha. He initially questions Michonne, but soon helps her by holding down Sam, allowing Michonne to patch up the gunshot wound with a red hot fire poker.

He then asks to speak with her outside. He goes to the grave of his dead wife, Sophia, and tells Michonne that his children are what keep him going. He finds a walker's arm on the ground and opens the gate, only to be shot by Randall moments later.

Ever since Sophia... I've tried to keep our family from harm. But we're falling apart piece by piece. And now that Sam's hurt and Greg's... I could really use your help."
- John to Michonne about his wife's death (Determinant), "Give No Shelter"
