José is a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. He is a member of the Hopi Tribe.

Pre-Apocalypse

Black Hat Reservation, California/Iraq

Nothing is known about José's life prior to or as the outbreak began, except that he was a mechanic and served in the Iraq War.

Post-Apocalypse

"The Unveiling"

As Qaletaqa shows Alicia around the Black Hat headquarters, he introduces José and Marta, who are working on the ranch's helicopter that was shot down.

José will appear in this episode.

"Minotaur"

José will appear in this episode.

"The Diviner"

José is among the Natives in line waiting their turn to collect water from the well. He witnesses young Erin knock a cup of water out of Ofelia's hand after being offered some to drink. The next day, he is in line again when a scuffle breaks out between the Natives and the ranchers over the water.

"Brother's Keeper"

José is among the Natives and ranchers to help defend the RV wall from the horde in an attempt to protect the ranch community. When the zombies break in, he is among those to evacuate to the pantry.

"This Land Is Your Land"

José is among the Natives to evacuate to the underground pantry. As Alicia addresses the crowd regarding those bitten, José watches on as several people stand up volunteering to sacrifice themselves to preserve air. Later, José is among the survivors to pass out due to the lack of air and eventually dies or is killed by the reanimated residents.

Troy secretly redirects a massive horde of walkers towards the ranch. When the horde gets to the ranch and attack everyone, the remaining survivors enter the pantry.
