Nothing is known about Josh's life before the outbreak, other than he was a student and Negan was his coach.. He also played ping-pong as an extracurricular activity.

Negan beats Josh in ping-pong and proceeds to taunt him. In response, Josh runs off crying, much to the embarrassment of his friends.
