Joshua Smith is a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's Television Universe. He is a minor character in The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: Dead City. He is the son of Negan and Annie Smith.

In early 2022, after exiling himself from Alexandria, Negan Smith joined Riverbend where he met Annie. The two married and conceived a child together.

In a hospital at the Commonwealth, a doctor shows Negan and Annie their baby on an ultrasound.

Following the defeat of Pamela Milton, Joshua is born in October 2022. He and his family chose to depart from the communities.

After meeting Negan again years later, Maggie asks Negan about where Annie and his kid are. After looking down for a moment, Negan doesn't answer the question and instead he changes the subject.
"People Are a Resource"[]
Negan emotionally reveals to a sympathetic Maggie that he sent Joshua and Annie away on a train to Missouri, Negan killed five guys who attacked and robbed Annie.

"Power Equals Power"[]
The Dama tells Negan that while the Burazi were out searching for him, they heard whispers of a settlement in Tennessee where Annie and Joshua are living. The wagon train was meant for Missouri as Negan knows because he's the one who paid the driver, but the Mississippi River flooded and rerouted the wagon train to Memphis, Tennessee. The Dama tells Negan that "I hate spoiling the surprise, but now that they're en route to the island, I suppose you'd want to make your preparations."
The Croat later apologizes to Negan for his family getting dragged into this situation, but he suggests that Negan see it as less of a threat to his family and more of a chance to welcome them into a larger family.
"Feisty Friendly"[]
As the Burazi prepare to negotiate with the Silk Stockings for the other gang to join their alliance against the New Babylon Federation, the Dama guesses that Negan's family is currently crossing the Appalachian Mountains, a very treacherous pass.
Negan later reveals to a sympathetic Maggie that the Croat and the Dama are using Annie and Joshua to get him to cooperate.
"Bridge Partners Are Hard to Come by These Days"[]
Watching from the upper floor of a building at one of the city's piers, Negan witnesses his son Joshua being carried by his mother Annie while Burazi nearby carry their possessions. After briefly looking away, he turns back to find Joshua taking a few steps while holding his mother's hand.
"Novi Dan, Novi Početak"[]
While speaking with Benjamin Pierce, Negan describes Joshua as having the "biggest, brightest, mischievous grin you've ever seen" and describes his laughter in a very fond way.
Later, after hitting his head while scavenging in Bellevue Hospital, Negan hallucinates Lucille and then Annie. Joshua steps out from behind Annie, smiling at his father, who greets Joshua.
