That's insane, and you know it. Josh is gone. Our son is dead. Don't dishonor his memory by lashing out against the man who holds this place together.
―Julia after Vincent blames Rick for Josh's death.[src]

Julia is a survivor of the outbreak in Image Comics' The Walking Dead. She is a resident of the Alexandria Safe-Zone, alongside her husband, Vincent, and son, Josh.

Overview[]

Julia is level-headed and wise, acting as Vincent's reasonable side. She is one of the many people whose loved ones were killed by the Whisperers on the pikes. However, unlike those who are angered at Rick for not taking immediate action, Julia puts her faith in Rick, believing he knows what he is doing. She is very patient and calm, as she often has to put up with Vincent's hot-headed nature, but always manages to calm him down.

Pre-Apocalypse[]

Location Unknown[]

Not much is known about Julia's life prior to or as the outbreak began, except that she lived with her husband and son.

Post-Apocalypse[]

No Way Out[]

Julia is first seen in a crowd in Issue 80 alongside Vincent and their son, Josh, listening to Rick Grimes inform the safe-zone on what to do about the approaching herd.

Life And Death[]

Julia finds Anna and questions her about Josh's whereabouts. Anna tells her that Josh is likely behind the church drinking alcohol with some of the other teenagers.

No Turning Back[]

Julia and Vincent grieve over the death of Josh. When Julia tries solacing him, saying that Rick will take care of the situation. Vincent angrily lashes out at her, claiming that Rick hasn't done anything beneficial for Alexandria and asks if she ever thought that everything that has happened in the community was caused by Rick himself. Vincent eventually calms down and says that all he ever wanted was for Josh to become an adult and his focus on Josh's survival kept him stable, despite the changed world. He and his wife are then visited by Morton Rose and his son.

Call To Arms[]

Julia greets Vincent after he returns from the training session.

A Certain Doom[]

Julia is seen at the gates of Alexandria with her husband, observing the massive walker herd. After the herd knocks the gates down, Julia and Vincent retreat further into Alexandria with the rest of the surviving residents.

Rest In Peace[]

Julia is not seen or mentioned in the 25 year time-skip, leaving her fate unknown.

Trivia[]

  • Although Julia was first introduced in Issue 144 (well after the introduction of the Alexandria Safe-Zone), she is actually one of the original Alexandria residents, and lived there before Rick Grimes and was present during the leadership of Douglas Monroe.
    • This is implied when Vincent was telling her things were "just fine" when Douglas was in charge, as well as the fact that her son Josh first appeared in Issue 70.
      • In Issue 80, Josh is seen with two parental figures holding him close to them. These are likely Vincent and Julia before they became fleshed out characters.
  • Julia is one of six characters confirmed to have outlived their children, the others being Hershel Greene, Morgan Jones, Tyreese, Michonne Hawthorne and Vincent.
