“ | Yeah, that's the thing. We can't have people losing faith in our officers... or the protection they provide... or our judgement in arming them. (...) I want you to defend the officers involved... prove they did nothing wrong. This is not a request.

Lance Hornsby is a survivor of the outbreak in Image Comics' The Walking Dead. He is the Deputy Governor of the Commonwealth, where he also serves as the community's bookkeeper and administrator.
Overview[]
Lance is a man prideful of his community, though this makes him somewhat vain. He is generally very rude, stuck-up, and unpleasant, having a tendency to lash out at others. Due to his high status in the Commonwealth, Lance often abuses his power, such as threatening to place Stephanie at a job she won't like and forcing Michonne to defend the soldiers who beat a man to death. He is loyal to Pamela Milton and will punish anyone who opposes her, shown when he arrests their once loyal General Mercer, who spoke against her. For all his faults, he does genuinely care for his community.
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Location Unknown[]
Nothing is known about Lance's life prior to or as the outbreak began. It is possible he lived in or near Ohio at the start of the outbreak. Given his high ranking in the Commonwealth, it is probable that he had a well-paying and respected job and/or was upper class.
Post-Apocalypse[]
Lance along with group of soldiers head out to met Eugene.
New World Order[]
When Lance encounters Eugene and his group, he questions them. To his annoyance Eugene wasn't going to answer any questions and demanded to see Stephanie. Lance gives in to Eugene and deigns to take him and his group to the Commonwealth.
He later offers Michonne a job in the Commonwealth as a lawyer.
The Rotten Core[]
Lance tells Michonne Hawthorne what happened as to why some of the soldiers beat Anthony Keith and informs her she will be assigned as the defense lawyer for them. Later that night he lets Michonne know that Anthony died.
After the riots ended, he is later seen being reprimanded by Pamela for letting things fall apart while he was in charge and is about to be demoted.
Lance accompanies Pamela on one of her "hunts".
Rest In Peace[]
When Mercer tries to rally the Commonwealth Military to overthrow the Governor, Lance enters the room with armed guards and tells Mercer that Pamela will be very disappointed in him. Lance is later seized by Mercer's men after the latter escapes from jail. Mercer questions him about Pamela's whereabouts, but Lance tells him that he doesn't know the Governor's location.
Later on, after Rick prevents a war between the Militia and the Commonwealth and his subsequent murder at the hands of Sebastian, Lance is shown to be walking free again and even comes to pay his respects to Rick.
After the 25 year time skip, Lance is not seen or mentioned again, leaving his fate unknown.
