Languedoc-Roussillon is a region in France in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

Pre-Apocalypse[]

Under Roman rule, most of Languedoc-Roussillon was known as Aquitania, the earlier conquered territories were known as Provincia Romana, while the northern provinces of what is now France were called Gallia (Gaul). Under the Later Empire, both Aquitania and Provincia Romana were grouped in the Seven Provinces or Viennensis. Provence and Gallia Aquitania (or Aquitanica) have been in use since medieval times for Languedoc-Roussillon (i.e. Limousin, Auvergne, Languedoc and Gascony).

Post-Apocalypse[]

In 2010, much like the rest of the world, Languedoc-Roussillon was affected by the spread of the Wildfire Virus and its resulting apocalypse, causing the collapse of society at a massive scale.

Season 1[]

"L'âme Perdue"[]

After washing ashore in Marseille, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Daryl Dixon planned a route to the western shoreline of France based on a map he found on a wrecked boat in town belonging to Sue and her family. Over the course of a few days, Daryl hiked several hundred miles through the region of Languedoc-Roussillon, climbing over rugged hills and ruins in the countryside and crossing over the crumbling Pont du Gard aqueduct bridge. Eventually he entered the neighboring region of Midi-Pyrénées where he would stop at a marketplace in an abandoned town for supplies.

Trivia[]

  • In real life, Languedoc-Roussillon joined the region of Midi-Pyrénées to form Occitania in 2016. But since the apocalypse started in 2010, this never happened in the The Walking Dead universe and the two regions remained separate.
