Floor by floor we fought. Five bloody and costly weeks to clear the entire building. By the time our climb was through and the building was secure, our numbers were reduced to thirty-six. Twelve brave and beautiful souls lost, but their sacrifices were not in vain. We had our home. Our Tower. Word of our success spread like a wildfire. Everyday, more and more survivors found their way to our gates and we welcomed them with arms wide open. We had the room to grow and we grew quickly. In those early days, we were unified and as a result, we were prosperous. One collective mind, one collective vision. They allowed us to regain control of our lives. But as the population grew, dissent found its way into the collective and reared its ugly head at the most difficult of times. And what did we do? Did we crumble? Did we change course? No. We persevered, as we have from the beginning. We knew that our future remained bright if we stayed committed to what brought us to our Tower in the first place. So let's not allow all the noise to knock us back down to the ground from the heights we have already achieved. Let's continue to climb, together. We must cut loose those who burden us with their petty squabbles, their poisonous minds and their freeloading ways. Trust in Mama when I say: We are better off without them. Have I ever steered you wrong?
―"Mama" explaining the Tower's past and values.

"Mama" (real name unknown) is a former antagonist and a survivor of the outbreak in The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. She is the leader of the Tower and the primary antagonist of "Retribution".

Overview[]

Mama has no direct appearance within chapter 1, only having a note directed towards her niece, Georgia. In it, she expresses concern over how the Tower has become and expresses Georgia to lighten down on her actions. However, Mama eventually is revealed to be much worst than Georgia, with her paranoia and complete one sided obsession with keeping order turns her onto the dark side.

Pre-Apocalypse[]

Haiti[]

Mama lived in Haiti until she was at least thirteen years old. During her time there, she saw hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, starvation, and disease. She eventually moved to New Orleans.

Post-Apocalypse[]

New Orleans, Louisiana[]

Mama and her neighbors formed a group with her as the leader. The group, which consisted of 48 people, eventually came to a tower, which was entirely cleared, at the cost of 12 people. Eventually, Mama, the leader, made several rules regarding loyalty and contributing, in which members could be exiled if they broke these rules, or didn't meet these requirements. As her community expanded, they eventually had no room for new members, and they had to enforce their rules more.

Under her role, several people were forcefully exiled from the group. One of the most known among these being a former Tower guard, Jean-Baptiste, who became the leader of The Reclaimed, who began openly rebelling against Mama and the Tower Community as a whole. A select few people, who became fearful under Mama's rule, eventually also left in fear of going through the same fate, among them May Benoit and her daughter Ambre.

Death (Determinant)[]

Killed by
  • Herself (Suicide, Determinant)
  • The Tourist (Determinant)

After being confronted by the Tourist, Mama can be shot or stabbed by the Tourist. However, if the Tourist allows her to finish her speech, she will then jump off of the tower to her death.

Appearances[]

Saints & Sinners[]

Trivia[]

  • It is very hard to create a zombified Mama without her body flying off the Tower, so Mama's status is mainly dead.
