Manuel is an antagonist and a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. He was a soldier for El Alcázar and a bandit. He served as the primary antagonist of the episode "La Ofrenda".
Pre-Apocalypse
Spain
Nothing is known about Manuel's life prior to or as the outbreak began.
Post-Apocalypse
Season 3
"Costa Da Morte"
Manuel and three other Alcázar soldiers were riding in a vehicle through the wilderness of Galicia, Spain, as Daryl Dixon observed while hiding in the trees a short distance from the road.
"La Ofrenda"
In the woods by a creek, a vehicle of El Alcázar soldiers pulls up and finds Roberto and Justina hiding in the water. They harass the couple and prepare to execute them when Daryl kills the three men with arrows before noticing Manuel, who runs up to the scene. Seeing what's happened, Manuel flees as Daryl grabs the dead bandit's gun and chases after him. However, Manuel is able to escape in the group's jeep.
Two days later, unnoticed by Daryl, Manuel arrives in Solaz del Mar in an El Alcázar jeep. At dinner, Daryl notices Manuel sitting at a nearby table and recognizes him from the earlier bandit encounter. Manuel recognizes Daryl in return and draws his companions' attention to the other man. Taking a small knife, Daryl leaves, claiming that he's going to check on their belongings and make sure that everything is alright. Manuel and two El Alcázar soldiers get up and follow after Daryl. Chased by the three soldiers, Daryl ducks into the storehouse. Although they hear a noise from inside, the men quickly move on when a dog barks in the distance. From a weapons crate, Daryl retrieves a proper knife and a collapsible sword to use as a weapon. In a tunnel, the three soldiers split up with one man going one way and the other two in another direction. Daryl secretly stalks the three men, intending to kill them.
On the wall, Manuel and Monteser are drawn by the walker's growls to the pen with the herd earlier contained by Paz. Monteser throws a glass bottle into the pen where it shatters. Watching from behind a wall, Daryl throws a rock, drawing the two men's attention in the other direction. Daryl attacks them from behind with his sword and knife, slitting the throat of Monteser, eventually stabbing Manuel and kicking him over the wall before knocking the third man down as he charges and stabbing the man through the throat. Peering over the wall, Daryl finds Manuel hanging on, dangling above the walkers. Manuel begs Daryl for help, but Daryl slashes his hand with his sword, sending Manuel falling into the herd, who devour the man as Daryl watches.
"El Sacrificio"
The next day, Guillermo and El Alcázar frantically search for Manuel and his two companions, who have gone missing. Guillermo reveals to Fede that Manuel had framed the bandit attack on Roberto and Justina as the four men being ambushed while getting water, rather than revealing the truth. After Guillermo leaves, Fede sends Sergio to check out the attack site, correctly deducing that Manuel and his men were the bandits that had attacked and that Daryl was responsible for their demise.
As Daryl and Roberto leave Solaz del Mar, passing by two El Alcázar soldiers searching for the three missing men, they walk past the walker pen where a zombified Manuel has joined the herd that killed him.
"Contrabando"
Sergio shows Fede the three El Alcázar soldiers that Daryl had killed days before, now zombified and a part of the herd kept in one of Solaz del Mar's walker pens.
"Solaz del Mar"
Fede has Sergio show the residents of Solaz del Mar the corpses of Manuel, Monteser, and the other El Alcázar soldier that Daryl had killed. Fede exposes the Americans for their deaths and uses the excuse of getting justice for their murders to justify torturing Antonio with strappado for information.
