Wind's blowin' towards the canteen. I want to enjoy my lunch today. Move it now. (...) You're disobeying the direct order from a ranger. (..) Excuse me? (...) Think I'm afraid of you? (...) If you're so important how come you're the one carrying a bucket of shit?
―Marcus threatening Strand and Alicia[src]

Marcus is an antagonist and a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. He is a member of the Pioneers and served the tertiary antagonist for the first half of Season 6.

Overview[]

Marcus is a hot-headed, rough, petty, and arrogant bully. He is shown to have no respect for the workers, seeing them as inferior. He is prone to impulsive and rash actions, especially those who hurt his ego. He tells Victor and Alicia to move since they are disposing toxic waste and he doesn't like the smell. When Victor talks back to him, he is flabbergasted that a worker insulted a ranger. He gets angered at the slightest provocation to the point of threatening to shoot Victor and Alicia. Even a fellow ranger, Cameron, is shown to be annoyed with Marcus' aggression.

Pre-Apocalypse[]

Location Unknown[]

Nothing is known about Marcus' life prior to or as the outbreak began.

Post-Apocalypse[]

Season 6[]

"Welcome to the Club"[]

As Strand and Alicia dispose of human waste outside of the walls of Lawton, Marcus and Cameron pull up to the gate in Althea's SWAT van. Marcus comments he wants Alicia and Strand to move the burning barrels of human feces elsewhere as he doesn't want the smell interrupting his lunch he plans to take in town. Strand talks back at Marcus, prompting him to get out of his vehicle and raise his gun at him. Fortunately, Dakota is nearby and yells at Marcus to stop, which he does, due to her being Virginia's sister. He, however, reports Strand and Alicia to Virginia and they are sent off to the molasses factory as punishment.

Marcus is among the rangers to accompany Virginia to the molasses factory after it was reported Dakota was found there. He listens as Virginia makes Strand an honorary ranger for his leadership in clearing the factory, before eventually departing the area.

"The Key"[]

Marcus is among the Lawton townspeople to congregate where Cameron was found dead. He and several other rangers find Janis at the fence attempting to escape and he holds her gunpoint until she is taken into custody. After Janis is sent to jail, Marcus is on duty at the front desk as John speaks with Janis. He informs John that Virginia wants to meet with him after she calls him over the radio. He also attends the funeral for Cameron as well as the key dedication ceremony for John a couple days later.

"Bury Her Next to Jasper's Leg"[]

Marcus, Virginia, and Hill chase after a woman attempting to flee from them in the woods near the Logging Camp. He and the others successfully catch up to Paige after she falls victim to a bear trap set on the ground. They question Paige on her association with the mysterious group that's been harassing the Pioneers and leaving spray tags saying "The End Is the Beginning". Paige at first denies this but, once outed, laughs in Virginia's face, since she can see that she is scared. Before she can be taken back to Lawton to be interrogated further, Paige snatches Marcus' gun. During the standoff, Paige tells the Virginia it's not about her, but what she is trying to build, before committing suicide. He and Hill are then ordered by Virginia to bury her body where they buried Japser's leg.

"Damage From the Inside"[]

Marcus is one of the rangers alongside Victor Strand escorting Dakota to a safe house.

"The Door"[]

Marcus is out searching for Morgan and Dakota when he stumbles upon a cluster of zombie corpses outside the entrance to Bill's shop, stirring his curiosity. He checks out the store and does not find anyone inside, but is intrigued when finding the video rental clipboard on the wall with John Dorie's signature all over. He radios Hill that John Dorie may be located nearby and he eventually leaves the store to keep looking. Later, Marcus suddenly appears, having found Morgan, John, and Dakota, and manages to lasso Morgan while on horseback. As he drags Morgan away, John open fires at Marcus, with the second bullet striking the ranger. Laying dead on the ground, Marcus is then shot in the head to prevent reanimation and is buried by John and Morgan outside of John's cabin.
