In a flashback, it is revealed that Omaha was destroyed by the CRM. Margaret was presumably devoured by the herd of empties or shot by CRM soldiers like any other survivors.
"Family Is a Four Letter Word"[]
In a flashback, Margaret and her husband Daniel find an unconscious Jennifer Mallick on a dock along the river just outside the city of Omaha, Nebraska. The couple informs the young woman that the Omaha Police Department is on their way and proceed to ask her name before the flashback ends.

Due to statistics stating that the community would be a drain on their resources, Elizabeth's superiors ordered an attack on Omaha and the complete extermination of its inhabitants. They bombed the safezone with chlorine bombs and then allowed the safezone to be overrun by the undead and shot any survivors afterwards.
