Melvin Allen is an antagonist and a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. He is a member of the California National Guard.
Overview[]
Melvin is a greedy and uncaring individual. Though he is ordered to take away anyone with a fever, he is bribed by Victor to not take away Nicholas. Even when Nicholas offers Melvin a cuff link, he greedily asks for the second one as well. Ironically, after Melvin is being devoured by walkers, Victor gets his cuff links back after going through his pockets. Though Melvin asks to be mercy killed, Victor leaves him to be devoured.
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Los Angeles, California[]
Nothing is known about Melvin's life prior to or as the outbreak began, except that he served as a sergeant for the California National Guard.
Post-Apocalypse[]
Season 1[]
"Cobalt"[]
Sergeant Melvin Allen is one of the soldiers stationed at the medical facility where Nicholas Clark and Victor Strand, among other civilians, are being held in quarantine. Melvin enters the holding pens to take away Douglas Thompson after he begins to break down, and he converses with Victor for a little. Later, Melvin and other guardsmen return to take the temperature of the internees. Nick has a fever of over 100 degrees, and Melvin takes him away, but returns Nick after Victor bribes him with two diamond cuff links.
"The Good Man"[]
Allen is seen when Victor and Nick attempt to escape the compound. Victor finds Allen, who is being eaten by a zombie and asks Strand to kill him out of mercy. Instead, Strand takes back his two diamond cuff links, telling him that he can keep the watch. The Infected breach the area and Strand and Nick escape. It is presumed that the zombies quickly devoured Allen's corpse before going after the two.
It is shown quickly after the two run that Allen is supposed to be their "ride" out of the facility should he be alive, which indicates that Strand could have bribed Allen not to terminate him and to transport him away from the base with his watch, should the "Operation Cobalt" be promptly prosecuted.
