  • Hello! So I have a question, say I want to display an image on my user page, without having to upload that particular image. I would use its web link to display it on my page, but how would I go about resiziong that image? Is this possible?

For example, say I want to link the following image onto my user page, how can I resize the image by editing the web link and without uploading it to the wiki?

    [1]

    • Just need to use the "/scale-to-width-down/" in the url if using from another Fandom project: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/disneyvillains/images/4/47/Brooms.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/SIZE HERE?cb=20100616182145

Example output if you want the image to be 300px:
      https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/disneyvillains/images/4/47/Brooms.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/300?cb=20100616182145 Would give this:

      Brooms.jpg

  • Hello TimeShade,

I wanted to ask you some info about layouts on wiki by reaching you on Discord, but I can't add you as a friend or sent a message, don't know why. Can you add me? Else, I'll write you here.

    Thanks :)

    • You should be able to add me as a friend? I haven't turned off friend requests.

  • Hello Timeshade, I’m currently seeing many users freak out over Fandom’s recent announcement about wiki updates. One of the rumors I’m hearing is that when wikis switch to the new server or whatever, none of the images will migrate. Is this true? If so, what will Fandom be doing to ensure all of the images migrate?

      Loading editor
    • Where did you hear this rumor? Never heard of such a thing before. And will make no sense for Fandom not to migrate them over.

        Loading editor
    • Thank you, that is a huge relief. A friend of mine shared a screenshot of a comment on one of the blog posts about the UCP and that user commented that “pictures probably won’t migrate over”. Wasn’t sure if this was a Fandom official or a standard user who made that comment but this was alarming and I wanted to reach out ASAP for clarification. Thank you!!

  • Hello there,

I was doing my usual tour around the wiki activity when I noticed something strange: this Category:Templates seems to be for templates only, but it is full of character pages and this category also appear on their pages among the others, when it wasn't there in the beginning. Do you have some way to know what happened, and if there is a way to remove 'em all quickly or somewhat?

I don't know if I was clear enough, really, let me know if I can be useful.

Thank you and have a good one!

    • It looks like the category was added to the navbox a while back. I've added no include tags so it should only show up for the template and not the pages that use them.

The character pages should no longer include them. Might take a bit for the category page to update but they don't seem to appear on the individual pages anymore.

    • Perfect! Thank you very much for your swift response and to have immediatly resolved the problem, I'm already starting to not see it anymore on pages. :)

  • I wanna do the whole infobox coloring the way you guys have for Alive, Dead, Unknown. And I don't know the right coding and stuff. Can you help me?

    • Where would you like this done?

    • For onw the Scream wikia. I've already done it for my story's page but just can't remember. I'll want to do more in the future.

        Loading editor
    • Ah, I'll look into it when I can but since Scream Wiki isn't among my assigned wikis, I'd need to work on my current assigned wikis first. You could also try asking one of the admins here.

    • So far none of them seem to know anything.

  • Hello! Do you know how I can get the TOC to show up for both tabs on Template:Survivors S9? Thanks!

  • Hello, this is unrelated to TWD but I have a question regarding galleries on another wiki (since you are a FANDOM staff member, right?). I am trying to create a gallery similar to my set up I have on the wiki (for an example, see Template:Survivors S3).

When I copy and paste this code at The Society wiki, the gallery appears as GIANT squares, which I do not. I am looking to make a gallery similar to the ones I have here.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated :)

  • Hello TimeShade,

as I said in the other topic - and thanks for the timely response - I have some proposals to make and to verify the possibility of implementing them:
    1 - is there any possibility to insert a massive delete, for admins, for pages that are categorized for deletion? Often we find ourselves with many pages or redirects to delete, and removing them one by one can be a long process;
2 - it is possible to insert a function, always for the admin, to be able to send a message that would appear in the notifications (or in the inbox) in case of negative behavior such as continuous flame or vandalizing by a specific user? So you can immediately notify the user of the warning, before proceeding to a ban if the user should continue with his bad attitude. Maybe, by blocking them from editing for at least 15 minutes and to make them aware of the warning.

These are two things that I'm thinking about from a while, but I'll probably come out with other stuffs soon or later. Let me know if I was clear enough!

Thank you anyway for your support. Have a good one!

      1. There use to be a script on the dev wiki which did just that, but can't seem to find it on there.
      2. I think the best option is to just manually message them the warning when it occurs. Is it a really serious issue that a quicker/convenient method would be better?

    • 1. Great, I'll give a look on the web to try to find it. EDIT: I think I find it: https://dev.fandom.com/wiki/AjaxBatchDelete

      2. It happened sometimes that the user didn't even read the message on the wall and proceeds, sometimes later, to do the same thing for which he was given a warning. It was a proposal to "force" the user to read the message, and to don't force me to ban him instantly. I can live without it, it was a simple proposal to "modernize" the wiki. :P

      Thanks.

    • It's an unfortunate but there will be users who just don't listen, even after their block expires. Really there's no specific function I can implement myself. Though if it's a case of vandalizing, then it's really hard to get through to them regardless as they do it on purpose after all.

        Loading editor
    • That's true, so no problem at all, I'll continue just like it is.

Anyway, I tried and the script works perfectly, already deleted 71 pages in a few seconds. Thank you, and see you soon for new proposals! :D

  • Hi there! Is there any chance you could look into our Discord widget? I saw you noticed we didn't have an invite link attached a few weeks back, I didn't know if that was a glitch or something. If you could maybe find a way to put an invite link for the community, that would be awesome! Thank you!

(If you need our invite link, it's: https://discord.gg/hGnabJY)
