The Mexican Navy is of the two independent armed forces of Mexico. In 2010, it employed over 331,000 members.

Wildfire Pandemic[]

During the onset of the Trials, the Mexican government (likely in conjunction with the United States) shut down their northern border, in order to prevent the virus from spreading. Only a few people (such as Ilene Stowe's family) knew about to border closing. With the pandemic worsening in the United States, many citizens attempted to flee to the border for safety in Mexico. However, the Mexican government implemented a flotilla, preventing most from access. Members of the Mexican Navy used naval boats to block traffic entering into Mexico by sea.

In "Blood in the Streets", both Victor Strand and Luis Flores state that they have a contact who can help them get past the border and into Mexico, who is accepting gold bars as a bribe. In the episode it is revealed that their contact (either Miguel or Vazquez) is a member of the Mexican Navy, who is part of a small flotilla patrolling the coastal waters close to the Abigail Vinyard in Baja California. The Mexican Naval forces open fire on the Abigail after the gunfight between Luis Flores and his contact(s). The aim of the flotilla (as judging by Strand and Luis' conservation with the contact) appears to be to keep infected ships from making landfall on Mexico's coast. It can be implied that the army is engaged in stopping the infected crossing over the border from the United States.

However, with Baja California confirmed to be overrun, it is unknown if the Mexican Navy had substantial presence at this point, or if the Mexican Naval members seen in "Sicut Cervus" were going rogue. After the shootout between Strand and his contacts, when asked why the other members of the flotilla didn't follow them or why they didn't try and sink The Abigail, Strand simply responds that those involved in the flotilla believe that whatever is on land would kill them.
