Michael Madsen was an American voice actor and actor who portrayed William Carver in The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - Season 2.
Biography
Masden was born in 1957. His mother was a filmmaker while his dad was a military veteran and firefighter. Madsen began working at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago, where he served as an apprentice under John Malkovich and appeared in a production of Of Mice and Men.
He quickly went on to appear in his first feature film, War Games and later became a regular in Quentin Tarantino's films starting with Reservoir Dogs and later with Kill Bill: Volume 1, Kill Bill: Volume 2, The Hateful Eight, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He also became known through multiple genres and forms of media with performances in Thelma & Louise, Donnie Brasco, and Grand Theft Auto III among others.
His distinctive ability to effortlessly portray characters with a captivating blend of sensitivity and grit led to collaborations with renowned directors and fellow actors, garnering him numerous accolades and nominations.
Outside of his acting career, Masden extended his career to other creative endeavors. An accomplished poet, Masden published four volumes of poetry including "Eat the Worm", "Burning in Paradise", and "Beer, Blood, and Ashes". With an unparalleled body of work and an undying passion for his craft, he was an indomitable force, continuously pushing the boundaries of cinematic storytelling and leaving an indelible mark on the entertainment landscape.
On July 3, 2025, Madsen was found unresponsive by authorities responding to a 911 call at his home in Malibu, California. He was pronounced dead at the scene, aged 67. According to his manager, the cause of death was cardiac arrest.

Trivia
- In an interview, Michael revealed that he is friends with Michael Rooker (Merle Dixon) and Scott Wilson (Hershel Greene).
- Madsen is the first voice actor in the Telltale Series to receive the special billing "Performed by" before his name on the game's credits. Scott Porter also received it, but not until "A House Divided".
