Mrs. Grimes (first name and neé unknown) is a character mentioned in AMC's The Walking Dead and The Ones Who Live. She is the mother of Rick Grimes and wife of Mr. Grimes.

Prior to the outbreak, Mrs. Grimes' husband set his crops on fire to collect the insurance money, but was badly burned in the process. Several years after he had died, his wife told his son the truth of what had happened.

"Rock in the Road"[]
During Rick's plea to Ezekiel for help combatting the Saviors, Rick said that his mother told him a story when he was a younger about a rock in the road which broke horse's legs, shattered wagon wheels, and destroyed goods to sell. A little girl became a victim to this rock which destroyed the beer her family had been meaning to sell. After she wept, she attempted to remove the rock and after hours of work, it finally emerged from the ground. The rock was instead a bag of gold laid by the king in the story because he believed that anyone that attempted to make life better for others should be rewarded.
