Little was known about the National Guardsman's life prior to or as the outbreak began, except that he was a soldier in the Army National Guard. He may have also been instructed in gunnery, as he was seen positioned behind a Humvee's machine gun.

"Walk With Me"[]
This National Guardsman is seen with a group of soldiers being approached by the Governor of Woodbury as he sets the Humvee's machine gun at the ready. The soldier is greeted by the Governor, who informs the convoy that he has recovered Lieutenant Welles. This guardsman then witnesses the squad leader being shot by the Governor. After the Corporal's murder, he has no time to react as they are ambushed by the Woodbury soldiers.

- This survivor was originally supposed to wear a uniform jacket with a name, although it was removed and replaced with the flak jacket for unknown reasons.
- Scott Dale, who portrays this National Guardsman, also portrays a different character named Lou in Season 4.
