Oklahoma is the forty-sixth state of the United States of America. It is a location that appears in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead.

Pre-Apocalypse

Oklahoma was one of the fifty states in the United States. It is located in the South Central region of the United States. Oklahoma was the twenty-eighth most populous U.S. state and the twentieth-largest by area. It was originally government-sanctioned territory for its indigenous inhabitants before being annexed into the union.

The state is bordered by Kansas to the north, Arkansas to the east, Texas to the south; and New Mexico to the west. It had a population of 3.76 million inhabitants at the time of the outbreak.

Elias Vazquez was a Junior Democratic Senator who lived in Oklahoma with his family. Will, who specialized in public relations for Vazquez' campaign was part of a team of congressional aides that made up the senator's staff.

Post-Apocalypse

When the outbreak began, Senator Vazquez' security detail in Oklahoma escorted Vazquez and several aides to the Franklin Hotel's underground bunker in Texas when the hospitals became overcrowded. They planned to regroup at the location with other officials and Vazquez' family in an effort to ensure continuity of the government, though none of them ever made it. It's likely that Oklahoma's major cities were bombed in accordance with Operation Cobalt.

At some point during the outbreak, Virginia's Pioneers settled in Lawton, Oklahoma and converted it into a settlement. It eventually became the headquarters and capital for Virginia's growing franchise of communities, with Virginia living in a house with her daughter, Dakota. Due to Lawton's prominence of being the main hub of activity for the Pioneers, many high-ranking rangers were awarded the privilege of residing there. Rangers constantly patrolled the fences surrounding the town, keeping the area clear of walkers. The town had an old chapel, a canteen, saloon, a wide variety of other shops that lined the main plaza, as well as a stable for horses that the rangers kept. It also had an armory, and a jail cell for lawbreakers. The town apparently lacked functioning plumbing infrastructure, as workers were tasked with burning human waste in barrels from the latrines.
