Patricia is a character and a former antagonist first encountered in Issue 10 of Image Comics' The Walking Dead. She is the girlfriend of Otis and a resident of Hershel's Farm.
Overview
Patricia initially shows herself to be overly-trusting and incredibly naïve, as exemplified when she freed Thomas Richards due believing him to be mentally ill rather than evil, which nearly led to her death at the hands of the deranged killer. Patricia went as far as siding with Dexter and Andrew when they attempted to force the other survivors out of the prison. Although her exact motivation for doing so is unknown, she may have been manipulated by Dexter into believing the survivors mistreated him. Patricia's actions cause her to become an outcast among the survivors, and she mostly keeps to herself. Gradually, however, most of the survivors forgive her and she starts to integrate herself into the group once more. Patricia consistently shows a strong appreciation for life, and states that she is sad about everyone that died, as there aren't many people left. During the Governor's assault on the prison, Patricia contributes greatly; first by saving Rick's life by donating her blood to him after he was shot, and later by fighting against the Woodbury Army. She would ultimately lose her life protecting the prison.
Pre-Apocalypse
Wiltshire Estates
Not much is known about Patricia's life prior to or as the outbreak began, except she was born in 1967. She and her boyfriend Otis narrowly escaped from Wiltshire Estates. Hershel Greene allowed them to stay at his farm.
Post-Apocalypse
Miles Behind Us
Patricia is introduced by Hershel as Otis' girlfriend, but doesn't play a role in the volume beyond that. She is present during Shawn, Arnold, and Lacey's funeral.
Safety Behind Bars
Patricia moves to the prison with the rest of the farm residents but, shortly after arrival, breaks up with Otis, who goes back to the farm to look after the livestock. During Otis' absence, she briefly flirts with Thomas Richards, and is later shocked and in disbelief when Thomas is revealed to be the one who killed Rachel and Susie. Objecting to the other survivors sentencing Thomas to death, Patricia frees him from his cell and wishes to help him escape, believing him to be crazy rather than evil. Despite this, Thomas attacks and attempts to murder Patricia, forcing her fight back by scratching his face. Before Thomas can resume his attack, he is held at gunpoint by Tyreese and ultimately shot to death by Maggie. Patricia later sides with Dexter and Andrew, who attempt to kick the other survivors out of the prison.
The Heart's Desire
When Dexter points a gun at Rick's head, Patricia protests that Dexter said he wasn't going to kill any of the survivors, but only force them out. Dexter mostly ignores her. During the shootout, Patricia cries out that Dexter was shot when Rick covertly kills him. When Otis returns and finds out what she did, he yells at her for betraying the survivors and informs her that she is dead to him, leaving her in tears. From that point on, Patricia helps the other survivors with their chores, but mostly keeps to herself. When Dale informs Rick that they're formed a committee, he mentions that Patricia wanted Lori to be on the committee instead of Rick, but backed down when nobody supported her motion, including Lori herself.
The Best Defense
Patricia reads Moby Dick when Otis approaches her and apologizes. He asks for them to go back to being friends, which she accepts.
This Sorrowful Life
Patricia can briefly be seen in the cafeteria when Rick tells the rest of the group about what happened with the Governor.
The Calm Before
When Billy comes to check on her, Patricia talks about Otis and how nobody really acknowledged his death, lamenting that he was the closest thing to a friend she had in the prison, despite his attitude. Billy, in turn, promises Patricia that he and the rest of his family have forgiven her and still consider her a friend. He also invites her to Maggie's wedding, which she attends. During the basketball game the next day, Patricia enthusiastically cheers on the girl team. While some of the survivors go on a mission to raid the National Guard depot, Patricia talks to Hershel about missing Otis and everyone else they've lost. After Tyreese and the others return, Patricia helps unload the supplies and later attends target practice. She later helps Lori look after the children.
Made to Suffer
After Rick is shot, Patricia volunteers to donate her blood to him, since her blood type is O Negative. This transfusion saves his life. Later, Alice catches Patricia having sex with Axel. During the Governor's second attack, Patricia bravely defends the prison, and is devastated when Axel is killed. She continues to fight until she is gunned down by the Governor.

This list shows the victims Patricia has killed:

- Numerous counts of zombies and possibly unnamed Woodbury soldiers
Relationships
OtisOtis and Patricia were dating prior to the outbreak, and their relationship continued until they reached the prison, where they split up. The reason for this may have been Otis' racist tendencies, but after an unknown period of time they began to reconcile. Patricia was affected greatly by Otis' death. Rick GrimesRick sometimes praised Patricia about her shooting skills, and Patricia was usually the one who watched Carl Grimes and other children. Patricia also was the one who saved Rick's life by giving him her blood. Hershel Greene
Hershel didn't seem to be mad at Patricia after she let Dexter, Andrew, and Thomas into freedom. They had a conversation about Hershel's dead children, Allen, and Otis, and how they miss them. Hershel seemed shocked, like Billy, when Patricia died. Maggie GreeneWhile on the farm, Maggie and Patricia grew a lot closer. Maggie didn't seem mad at Patricia for helping Andrew and Dexter get the guns. Maggie also saved Patricia from Thomas when he tried to strangle her. Billy GreeneBilly and Patricia had some conversations, and Billy invited Patricia to Maggie's and Glenn's wedding. After Patricia died, Billy was shocked and scared over her death. AxelThey didn't have a lot of interactions, however, these two were seen having sex and hugging each other before the final Prison attack. After Axel died, Patricia is seen holding his body, and repeating the word, "No, no no...". DexterPatricia helped Dexter and Andrew to get the guns, and thought they weren't going to kill Rick and others. After Dexter's death, Patricia was crying and crawling over his body. Thomas RichardsPatricia trusted Thomas, believing he was a good man who needed help. After releasing Thomas from his cell, he tried to kill her. Upset and in tears, Patricia asked why he would do that, though she didn't seem very sad after he died. Lori GrimesLori and Patricia became friendly after Carol committed suicide. Patricia helped Lori look after the kids and Patricia was also responsible for saving Rick's life. However, their friendship is not given the chance to grow, as both Lori and Patricia are both shot and killed by The Governor's army in Issue 48. Alice WarrenIt can be inferred that Patricia earned Alice's utmost respect and gratitude when Patricia was willing to give some her blood to an injured Rick, thus saving his life. She also walked in on Axel and Patricia having sex, but understands under the circumstances and thought nothing of it. Arnold GreenePatricia and Arnold had a basic friendship, all though they were never seen interacting Patricia was seen grieving at his funeral and Arnold was also mentioned when Patricia was telling Hershel the people she missed. Lacey GreenePatricia and Lacey had a basic friendship, all though they were never seen interacting Patricia was seen grieving at her funeral and Lacey was also mentioned when Patricia was telling Hershel the people she missed. Shawn GreenePatricia and Shawn had a basic friendship, all though Shawn had already turned and locked in the barn before Rick and the group had arrived there was no interaction shown but Patricia was seen grieving at his funeral after he had been put down by Hershel. Also Shawn was mentioned by Patricia when she was telling Hershel the people she missed. Susie GreenePatricia and Susie had a basic friendship, all though Patricia and Susie were never shown interacting it is assumed they were close because Susie was named when Patricia was telling Hershel the people she missed. Rachel GreenePatricia and Rachel had a basic friendship, although Patricia and Rachel were never shown interacting it is assumed they were close because Rachel was named when Patricia was telling Hershel the people she missed. |
