Power of the Living, or Pouvoir Du Vivant in French, is an enigmatic French syncretic nationalist political movement and paramilitary organization that appears in AMC's The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
Pouvoir was led by Genet, and had a significant force in the Paris region, although its soldiers (Guerriers) were also found in units throughout France, such as Codron's squad. Pouvoir was heavily involved in experiments on the Wildfire Virus, with the intention of weaponizing it, despite Genet's hate for the forces that created the virus and the wealthy, who, according to her, fled the cities to their castles.
Following the death of Genet at the hands of Carol Peletier, the organization fell apart. Part of what remains became controlled by Losang, while others began working at the Demimonde after looting at Maison Mère resulted in a riot that left many people dead. Although the organization seemingly collapsed on a national level, Anna Valery predicts there will be another fascist leader like Genet.
Losang's reign ended shortly when he died at the hands of Daryl Dixon during a fight at the Catacombs of Paris, thus making Jacinta the de-facto leader of the organization. Following the death of Jacinta and the escape of Laurent to America, it's unknown what became of the remnants of the organization, if it disbanded or found a new leader. Its soldiers are known as Guerriers ("Warriors" in English), and served as the primary antagonistic group of Season 1 and one of the two primary antagonistic groups of Season 2 (along with Union of Hope).
Post-Apocalypse
Pouvoir became established at some point after the outbreak, originating in Paris as a nationalist movement. It recruited many survivors throughout France and tattooed them with the symbol of their cause. They also began experimentation on the Wildfire Virus. Throughout its existence, Pouvoir has been in a war to achieve its political objectives.
By 2023, Pouvoir has control of most of the city of Paris, and its movement is growing. Genet has deals with some businesses in Paris, such as the Demimonde, to be free from intrusion by her Guerriers - except in extraordinary circumstances. At this point, Pouvoir declares to have (allegedly) restored France, declaring a Sixth republic.
Pouvoir soldiers are known to operate in Paris, the Midi-Pyrnees, Provence, and Normandy. The message "pouvoir des vivants" can thus be found spray-painted across France.
Young boys are sometimes abducted by Pouvoir and made into guerriers. Notably, Stéphane attempted to take Laurent for this purpose, which lead to the Battle at the Abbey.

Carol Peletier manages to play dead and escapes in an ATV with Stéphane Codron to the Nest. Once inside, Stéphane joins the defense of the Nest, stating that it's for Laurent's sake. Throughout the battle, Guerriers hunt down Nest residents with two even chasing down a father and daughter pair before they're stopped by Carol. Carol reunites with Daryl and they escape from the Nest as it falls to the Power of the Living who force Losang to surrender to them. Genet orders the countryside to be scoured for Laurent who is not at the Nest.
Guerriers later arrive at Theo's Plantation where Daryl and Carol hide, but the Guerriers leave peacefully after being given food by Theo and Didi. However, the Guerriers return in force the next day, led by Genet herself, after Theo betrays Daryl and Carol. Daryl and Carol ambush and kill the Guerriers, cornering Genet. Genet is shot by Carol with a dart containing Amper Serum, resulting in the horrific death of the tyrannical leader of the Power of the Living.
Subsequently, Sabine, Dr. LaFleur and a number of Guerriers approach Losang, recognizing that neither Genet nor Losang's way are working by themselves. Losang makes peace with this faction of the Power of the Living, welcoming them into the Union of Hope and the search for Laurent.
"Vouloir, C'est Pouvoir"
It's revealed that while Sabine and a number of other Guerriers have joined the Union of Hope, the Power of the Living has mostly fallen apart as an organization following the death of Genet. Following a riot, Maison Mère has fallen with many of the residents dying and the Power of the Living fortress being left overrun by walkers. Some of the surviving Guerriers loot the fortress during or after the fall, bringing things like the Mona Lisa to the Demimonde where they begin working for Anna Valery.
While searching Maison Mère for Ash Patel, Daryl and Carol witness the aftermath of the riot and fight the herd overrunning the place, including a number of zombified Guerriers. In order to take down the herd, Daryl uses the Amper Serum to turn two zombified Guerriers into Ampers who then tear apart the other walkers.
Sabine and a few of the Guerriers still loyal to her accompany Losang and his men to the Montmartre Rooftop Community in search of Laurent. A Guerrier and Dr. LaFleur later accompany Losang, Mathis, Gilbert, and Valon into the Catacombs of Paris where the mad scientist and the Guerrier are killed by Stéphane Codron who has defected to the side of Daryl's Group.
"Au Revoir Les Enfants"
Now led by Jacinta, the Power of the Living and the Union of Hope attempt to prevent Laurent's escape to America in Ash's Plane. Sabine and three Guerriers ambush Fallou and Stéphane Codron in an abandoned Mental Hospital, demanding answers, but the intervention of Akila results in the death of the Guerriers and Sabine fleeing.
Next, the two groups ambush Anna Valery who agrees to lead them to Laurent in exchange for getting the plane and its pilot for her own use. However, once they arrive at the Hippodrome, Anna leads Jacinta and her men into a parking garage full of burners, resulting in the deaths of Anna and a few of the soldiers as well as Jacinta getting bitten.
Hearing the plane preparing for takeoff, Jacinta and her forces storm the field where Daryl, Fallou, Codron and Carol hold them off in order to buy time for Ash and Laurent to escape. Jacinta sends Guerriers on a motorcycle and on an ATV to cut off the plane, but Daryl kills the motorcycle rider while Carol shoots the ATV driver, clearing the path for the plane to takeoff and ending the battle. Bitten and with nothing left to live for, Jacinta commits suicide, leaving both groups without a leader once again.
Subsequently, it's unknown what became of the remnants of the Power of the Living, if a new leader such as Sabine took over, or if the organization fell apart completely following all of its recent losses, desertions, and the loss of Maison Mère.

Trivia
- Based on his appearance and motives, it's possible that the man from The Walking Dead: World Beyond who killed the scientist from la Biomédicine / DDMI was part of Pouvoir.
- In a pre-season clip posted on official The Walking Dead social media accounts, the movement was referred to as The Cause by Romain Levi.
- The group is only ever referred to as The Cause once, in "Au Revoir Les Enfants".
- It is unknown if the Power of the Living is aware of the existence of the Civic Republic in North America and vice versa.
- It is likely, especially after the military's reform, given Beale's words to Rick about the CRM having spies in selected communities across the world.
