Ruby is a survivor of the outbreak in The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series. She is a medic for Ericson's Boarding School.
Overview[]
Ruby is sassy, moody and she seems to be the type of person who gets the last word in an argument. She has a very short-temper and often can be quite impulsive. Before the outbreak, it is said that Ruby had been sent to the boarding school for her anger issues. Violet describes her as being like the Tasmanian Devil and how she'd attack the faculty members (Determinant). Initially, Ruby starts on bad terms with Clementine and AJ. after he bites her on the hand. AJ describes her as being scary and always being so mad. However, it is shown she has a soft side, and will warm up to whoever shows a mutual kindness. After AJ apologizes to her, she starts to show her more friendly side.
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Southern United States[]
Nothing is known about Ruby's life prior to or as the outbreak began, except that she was born in either 1993 or 1994 and was a student at Ericson's Boarding School for Troubled Youth. She also used to hunt boars with her father. It was revealed that when she arrived at the boarding school that she had anger issues and would act out aggressively towards the senior staff, including one time where she chased the home economics teacher around with a barbecue fork.
Post-Apocalypse[]
During the early days of the outbreak, the teachers at the school left Ruby along with rest of the children to fend for themselves.
At some point during the outbreak, Ruby, Ms. Martin, and a few other students began managing the boarding school's greenhouse. They maintained a variety of plants, and began growing vegetables as a source of food. Eventually, chaos struck and a large group of walkers crowded the area. Surrounded by the undead and seeing no other solution, Ms. Martin decided to sacrifice herself to buy Ruby and the other children time to escape.
The Final Season[]
"Done Running"[]
Ruby is first seen exiting from the room where Louis is playing the piano, holding her finger and insulting someone. She quickly switches her attention to Clementine and tells her that her boy (Alvin Jr.) bit her. No matter what Clementine says, Ruby storms off.
She is later seen in the Boarding School's yard, standing at a fireplace. Clementine will tell Alvin Jr. to apologize to her. Depending on what the player chooses, Ruby may be a bit hesitant to accept his apology, but will nonetheless. Not long after, the group gathers to eat the stew Omar made. She sits on the same table as Clementine, Alvin Jr., Marlon and Louis. When Louis burps, Ruby will express her disgust. Right as she returns to eating, Alvin Jr. will burp as well, to which Clementine can respond to by asking him where his manners are, telling him to eat slowly, or burp as well. If the player chooses to burp, Marlon will command the group to stop. Ruby thanks him, but then he burps as well, infuriating her. She angrily leaves the table, while the group laughs. Louis tells her goodnight, and she responds by giving him the finger. If the player berates Alvin Jr., she will say that just because everything else died doesn't mean that manners did. She returns to eating and soon after finishes her stew. She says goodnight, stands up, and leaves.
Ruby is later seen among the others confronting Marlon and Clementine, and watch in horror when Alvin Jr. shots Marlon in the head.
"Suffer The Children"[]
After AJ shot and killed Marlon, Ruby mourned him with the other children. After witnessing Marlon's premature death, Ruby, who's clearly in a panic, stammers that she could acquire medicine from the nurse's office, before the suggestion is instantly rejected by Mitch, who points out that Marlon is dead and no medicine could possibly save him.
The next day, Ruby attends Marlon and Brody's funeral, crying afterwards. When Mitch angrily argues with Clementine, Ruby, as well as Willy and Omar, join his side, and a furious Ruby berates Clementine for wrongly teaching AJ how to shoot. Later on, after the children at the boarding school vote on whether to exile Clementine and AJ from the school or not, it's assumed that Ruby voted for them to leave due to the anger she displayed.
After weeks have past, she seems to have forgiven Clementine and AJ. During Louis' card game, it is revealed that Aasim has a crush on Ruby, and Clementine can optionally dare him to ask Ruby for a kiss. Aasim will then approach Ruby to fulfill the dare as the group watches from afar. Ruby slaps him in reaction, sending the group into laughter.
She is last seen fighting alongside the others during the raid. She is only seen throwing rocks, however. After the raiders leave with Aasim, Omar, and Louis/Violet, she grieves with Willy over Mitch's body.
"Broken Toys"[]
A depressed Ruby is seen the morning after the events of the previous episode, digging a grave for Mitch. She stands by a grieving Willy, who shoves down Tenn in anger, much to her dismay. She is left behind at the school with Tenn while the others set out to plot the infiltration of the prisoner ship.
Once Clementine and AJ return, Ruby claims she is throwing one last "hootenanny" to which AJ mistakes as a swear. She invites them to her party, which they accept. After settling in their rooms, Clementine and AJ head down to Louis' piano room, where the others are preparing for the party. She offers that AJ creates a decoration for them to hang up, which he does. She instructs Clementine on how to work the gramophone. Willy proposes the idea that Clementine names the bomb they would use on the Delta's ship, to which she can possibly name "Ruby's Revenge". During the party, the group play a guessing game, reading off old behavior reports and guessing who's report was who's. It is revealed Ruby had anger issues and frequently acted out aggressively toward the staff.
Ruby is lastly seen helping distract the Delta so that Clementine, Louis/Violet, and AJ can sneak onboard. If Clementine decided they should burn the hay to startle the Delta's horses, Ruby will light the hay on fire and run off. If Clementine decided to have Willy burn the supplies, she will instead release the horses. Ruby is not seen for the remainder of the episode.
"Take Us Back"[]
Ruby hijack's the Delta's horses and uses them to aid in getting Aasim, Omar and Violet/ Louis back to the school safely.
She is later seen joking around and eating at the table with the other kids. She also kisses Aasim.

Quotes[]
The following is a list of some of Ruby's most memorable quotes.
The Final Season"Gah! You little motherfucker! Hey. HEY. 'Bout time you woke up. Your little boy just BIT me! He's lucky I didn't take a boot to his head. Nearly took a chunk outta me. Gah, it hurts somethin' fierce. (…) Tappin' him on the shoulder ain't provoking. This is what I get for tryin' to be nice to the kid? Well, screw you both. "Aw, sug, it's alright. We can all get a little crazy when we get scared. Thank you for your honesty and your apology." "Just because everything else died, doesn't mean manners did. I'll say goodnight." "We don't know her, y'all. I hate to say it, but we don't." "We could get medicine... from the nurse's office! (…) For God's sake, someone help me with this!" "That's what you told him? That what he did was... was okay?! (…) Move on? And just let you get away with what AJ did?" "He's running a fever. Body's trying to fight infection, poor little guy. (…) Shhh, you just try to rest, okay? We're gonna fix you right up." "Guess I didn't realize how long it's been. How much it's changed. (…) You gonna stand there sulking all day, or you gonna do something useful?" "Wild boar. Not too many in these parts, but they were more common where I grew up. I used to hunt them with my old man when I was little. They make terrible noises when they die." "Condensation? That's a big word for you." "I--it's been so long since I was here. I used to love this place, but it's so overgrown. I'll be fine. Let's just find a way in." "You can only eat the same bland rabbit stew so many times before you go crazy. These herbs are gonna do wonders for morale, you wait and see." "Ms. Martin. Our nurse. At the school. She stayed, when all the others left. God, she looks... You can barely recognize her. She's just...just like all the others. (…) I j--I just wish I could make her look like she used to. (…) One day, we came out looking for food. Walkers attacked us. Thought we could fight them off, but there were just...there were so many. Ms. Martin told us to run, so we did. She taught me how to patch people up. Stitching, local anesthetics, painkillers, fever reducers. I don't think I can...take care of her. Would you? I'm sorry." "God, is it really that easy for you to just forget who they were? Well, it isn't for me." "We have to bury Ms. Martin first. (…) No. Ms. Martin's the reason we're all alive. She deserves a proper burial. Here, next to the greenhouse she loved. That way the others won't have to see her like this." "I'll put a stone in the graveyard, back at the school. But Ms. Martin loved this place. She'll be happy here. I'll make sure everyone knows you helped me. That you've got a...a good heart. Under all that muck." "Oh. Well, I wanted to throw one last hootenanny before the big fight. (…) I know it sounds strange, throwing a party. But people need something to lift their spirits right about now." "I figured if we're all going on this crazy mission together, you might as well know who we really are. (takes out file) So I'll read some of what the adults thought about us...and you have to guess which one of us fits the bill. I'll make sure it's someone you've actually met. This'll be the first one. "While otherwise a remarkable student, 'Blank' continues to be plagued by fits of anger, uncontrollable cursing, and repeated physical altercations with the senior faculty"..." "Hey, hon, it's gettin' late. Just coming to check on you. Dinner's soon. Tennessee? (hugs Tenn) Oh, thank god. We gotta get you home, I swear. I bet. You coming with? Whoa, you found it. How did you...?" "Food's ready, everyone! Come and get it!" |
